Southwest Florida Republicans have two of them in the primary race for U.S. House District 19, now held by Connie Mack IV, R-Fort Myers, who is running for U.S. Senate.
Voters have a chance for a fresh slate with a seat that is open for the first time in eight years. We recommend that they make the most of that opportunity by choosing a political newcomer who can be a leader in Washington as well as locally.
Byron Donalds, 33, of Naples rises above a field that includes three veteran public servants, including the son of Mack's predecessor. Voters at forums are drawn to him rather than the status quo.
Donalds exudes humility, a dedication to public service and respect for the office.
He demonstrates a grasp of the details of the issues that make this contest important. He knows why it's important to corral federal spending and develop strong policies on job creation, health care and immigration.
When he talks, people listen.

Energy independence bump
The Naples Daily News would never endorse a true Constitutional Conservative which is why Donalds got the endorsement rather than the more deserving Trey Radel.
New blood opportunity.
Give me examples why Trey is more deserving!
Is it because he mismanaged his campaign and had to pay $10,000 to get on the ballot? The other candidates got the proper amount of signatures. But not Trey! Who was in charge of getting the signatures? If he can’t be careful of his campaign money, how is he supposed to manage tax payer money? What about him mismanaging his “domain name” business. He said he didn’t know his “employees”were buying and selling inappropriate, porn domain names. He didn’t know??? Who was managing “them”. According to records he didn’t have employees.
So he is more deserving? Stop listening to the “Trey” hype. Open your eyes and ears! Do your research and you will see why Byron is truly the best candidate!
I admit to knowing nothing about any of our candidates in that district including Chauncey Goss. Goss’s son running to succeed Mack’s son? That’s just too rich.
So I went to this guy’s site. The first thing I saw was an endorsement from Herman Cain.
This was a chance to elect a Black Republican that I was previously unaware of.
According to OpenSecrets, it is practically a three-way tie in the money game between Trey Radel (a talk show host), Gary Aubuchon (a State Rep) and Chauncey Goss (occupation listed as “consultant”), with each having at or above $400k. Byron Donalds is in a distant fifth with just $100k. The Dems aren’t contesting this seat with anyone serious, as the only Dem, James Roach, has just $46k.
We’ve had bad luck with black conservatives in GOP primaries this year (with Michael Williams’s failure to make the run-off in TX-25 being particularly heartbreaking), but if Byron Donalds can finish first in this multi-candidate primary he will be a shoo-in in the general election. Congressman Tim Scott is also a shoo-in, and I would give Congressman Allen West strong odds to be reelected and Mayor Mia Love even odds to knock off Matheson in UT-04. The only other possibility to add to our number of black Republicans in Congress is Mayor Vernon Parker in AZ-09, a newly created, very competitive district.

It’s sounds like he could use some Benjamins.
Cain should be a help with that.
This just in: Congressman Curt Clawson (FL-19) is retiring, and Byron Donalds is rumored to be interested in running for the seat again after falling short in the 2012 primary. Former Congressman Porter Goss’s son (who also lost in the 2012 primary) already announced that he’s running.
Byron Donalds is the real deal, and I hope that he is able to coalesce conservatives so as to win the primary.
Clawson, short timer. Sounds like his mom died and his dad is sick so he just wants to go home, I wish him well.
I didn’t remember this guy Byron Donald.
Let’s see
http://www.ourcampaigns.com/RaceDetail.html?RaceID=736120
There’s the result of the 2012 primary, Trey the cokehead D-bag Radel won in a divided field (5 viable candidates) with just about 30%, Donalds brought up the rear (of the real candidates, some non-entity got 1%) with 14%. I have to assume Donalds never did get the funding he needed.
He is currently running for the state House with Clawson’s support and has already raised 100,000 for that election that I assume he can transfer.
Byron is a good, old school name.
Chauncey OTOH, eh.
