Paradigm shift: Sarah Palin takes Texas
The Hill ^ | August 1, 2012 | Bernie Quigley

Posted on 08/04/2012 8:53:12 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Establishment Republicans rally today to debunk Sarah Palin much as Letterman, Couric, Tina Fey and the vast info/entertainment culture did at the beginning. It is a measure of her success and the fear Grizzly Mama strikes in the heart of the timid. The Ted Cruz victory in the Texas Senate race brings substantive political change and Sarah Palin is behind the paradigm shift. It is, as The Washington Post called it, “a victory for the Tea Party.” Today, “the establishment” pushes further away from the main pulse of America and Sarah Palin holds the pulse.

The paradigm shift can best be seen in Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s last primary race for governor. The entire Eastern Conservative Establishment including George H.W. Bush, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, Karen Hughes — as proxy for W. — lined up behind Kay Bailey Hutchison, who had challenged Perry for the governorship. Perry had in his corner Sarah Palin. Perry was then to be seen as the front man on the rising Tea Party. Yesterday, Gov. Perry brought his support to Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. Palin backed Cruz. So Perry, in Texas, has been marginalized as a Tea Party figure and wrapped in with “the establishment,” a phrase now used in mainstream publications like the Post.

The Cruz victory brings the Tea Party to a higher level of maturity and engagement. And it pushes “the establishment” in Texas and the heartland closer to the margins.

Gov. Sarah Palin - targeted for destruction by the left and the media for being entirely too Pro- Christian, Pro-American, Pro-Life, Pro traditional family and Pro-Capitalist. These qualities threaten the very fabric of leftism in America and the World today.

Funny, I don’t remember seeing Palin’s name on the ballot. I didn’t vote for her.

This primary cycle is a fight for the soul of the Republican party. Either Romney sets the agenda as president or Governor Palin does by helping get elected a team of patriots. So yes, if you voted Tea Party, you voted for Palin.

If that saddens you, I'm sorry.

It doesn’t sadden me. What saddens me is that Palinistas think people who vote for a true conservative wouldn’t know better if Palin didn’t tell them how to vote. This battle in Texas started before Palin arrived. I appreciate her efforts but like I said, I didn’t vote for her. I didn’t even know she knew who Cruz was because she’s not on my radar. She doesn’t come up in conversation with my Texas conservative buddies, so when I see an article like this one, I have to roll my eyes.

It really isn't a paradigm shift, as if something has just taken place, what has happened in Texas has been a seismic shift twenty plus years in the making. When I first moved to Texas in 1975, democrats ruled the day just as LBJ had designed it. However, when cowboy-hat-wearing Ronald Reagan won in 1980, things began to change. 1984 and 1986 were just formalities. And, from the early 1990s, the Texas Republican Party Platform and the entire state has gotten progressively conservative. Yep folks, we now own the state, and it feels real good.

I had an interesting conversation with a democrat who served on the Texas Democratic Platform committee a few years back and is well-connected. He admitted to me that the democratic party is no longer a party for straight, white men.

Now, you can't have a very successful party if it is not inclusive to all the people, now can you?

Just as there are some on FR that don't know whether or not to hate Romney unless Jim tells them to. Not all, but I have seen enough posts to realize that if Jim told them that $hit was good food, they'd stock their pantries with it.

Then you might want to get in touch with a local Tea Party, because Sarah Palin and the Tea Party were on this WAYYYY back early in the selection of candidates for Hutchison’s spot. Her pac and ours infused his campaign with those dollars to jump start him. And we started knocking on doors. You don’t win by just ‘observing.’

Oh really? How strange, and all this time I thought I was on this site because Jim Free Republic and I are on the very same page the majority of time. Thanks for the horse hockey put down that we don’t have minds of our own. YOU like the democrats, seem to think republicans are stupid, which puts you in their pockets. And as you can see by continually understanding conservatives, are about to lose your shorts.

I guess some folks need to feel the sense of belonging that comes with "being on the same page as the majority". I KNOW Republicans are stupid, else we would be having this spat. By the way, I conceded that not all folks have to take their thinking orders, but a good number of them seem to be doing just that so as "not to offend". I understand con servatives as well as anyone - I have trouble with those so willing to "stick up for their principles" that they also willing to ignore the principles that go along with arguing one's own train of thought. If you look at a lot of the anti-Romney posts, and can tuck aside the happiness that they "are on the very same page" as you, you might notice that many are chanting a mantra rather than putting togethr a cogent line of reasoning on why it will be perfectly OK to leave Obama ensconced in the WH after all he has done to destroy Freedom during the first term. As long as FR stands by the "F", the forum serves a purpose - if the "F" goes away, it becomes a faux "liberal" site by squashing all who aren't "on that very same page as the majority.

My shorts are secure, thank you. But, if you "same pagers" get your way, none of us will have shorts to be concerned about.

You obviously missed the point because it was possible to be offended by someone who disagrees with you - if that gets me zotted, then FR has tossed the "F".
