3 reasons Obama won't dump Joe Biden
The Week ^ | August 17, 2012 | Various pundits

Some conservatives are slyly predicting that the president will jettison the vice president and put Hillary Clinton on his ticket. Here's why they're wrong:

After new wince-worthy gaffes by Vice President Joe Biden, conservative blogs are reviving old speculation that President Biden might give his old running mate the boot, and replace him with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The GOP's 2008 vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, folksily opined that an Obama-Clinton ticket would have a "darn-good chance of winning." Palin's old boss, 2008 nominee John McCain, chimed in that Obama might be "wise" to make the switch, but conventional wisdom still says flatly that the president would never do it. Why not? Here, three reasons:

1. Biden is good for the ticket It's totally irrelevant that Republicans don't like Biden and "think he's stupid," says Doug Mataconis at Outside the Beltway. The Obama campaign isn't trying reach hardcore conservatives, after all. Biden "relates to working class audiences in a way that President Obama has always had trouble doing, and he's a great surrogate to send to states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan to rally the faithful." And he has certainly helped his ticket more than Palin ever helped hers. "The right would be wise not to underestimate him."

2. Obama can't admit Palin's right: With Palin egging him on, "Obama wouldn't dare take her advice and dump Biden from the ticket," says Ed Morrissey at Hot Air. "Even a medical reason would look like a panicked, defensive move," especially after Biden's recent bungles — mistaking Rep. Ryan for a governor, forgetting what century this is, suggesting Republicans want to put blacks "back in chains." The last time an incumbent vice president got purged from the ticket this late in the game was 1944. It looks like "Obama's stuck with Biden" now.

3. There's nothing in it for Hillary: Putting Hillary Clinton on the ticket might help Obama, says Dan Amira at New York, but there's "very little upside for her." Every poll says the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination is already hers "for the taking, if she's interested." Her solid stint as secretary of State has made her more popular than ever. "Why should she sully herself in the muck of this increasingly dirty race," or entangle herself with the baggage of a second Obama term? Even if Obama offered her the job — which he won't — she wouldn't want it.

Come on now. Hillary is much better than her old friend Madeline who she hired during Slick’s term in office. Hmmm, I just made your point, didn’t I.

do you really think Hillary is more intelligent than Hussein?? after all they are both just low ladder former attorneys..don't believe either ever had a real case in a real Court..in fact Hussein no longer even has a Law License..probably never did, we aren't sure as ALL his records are under lock and key... by 2016 Mitt and Paul will be running once again, so old Hillary will have to wait until 2020 if she lasts that long, she is not looking too spiffy lately...some age well some don't!!! have a great week end♥

If Obama replaces Biden it becomes a public acknowledgement of his earlier incompetence in picking somebody who was not a dependable fit for being Vice President in the first place. It also ought to remind reminiscent voters that the Democrat party just offered folks like Joe Biden and John Edwards to us as their most presidential material, and a scant few years later it has become embarrassingly clear that they are unfit for even a largely ceremonial position like Vice President. And those who aren’t willfully ignorant will note that Obama is in way over his head also .

Sharks have to keep swimming to stay alive.

Oh, how she wants it.

Vet, Obama will no shiite-can Ole Joe.

However, it is entirely possible that Ole Joe (aka "Joey Plugs) might take himself out of the race. Or he'll at least try. Poor old guy's brain is going faster than before.

Since Hillary is far too cunning a stunt to jump on Obama's broken wagon, look for someone odd, Like Joe Lieberman, or Lincoln Chaffee. Hell, it might even be Janet Lesbitano! Or, get this: Colin Powell, anyone?

I always thought Biden was on the ticket for assassination insurance. Who would assassinate Obama if they would end up with Biden?

On the other hand, if Hillary was VP, Obama would spend all his time concerned about when he would end up in Fort Marcy Park.
