“Hope I’m communicating my point here...”

Yeah, you’re pretty much trying to deny the existence of the GOP-e, and I’m not buying it.

“What do you have in mind specifically that is different than the existing? Monarchy? Oligarchy?”
I’d rather have a political party that wouldn’t nominate a left-winger like Myth Romney for dog catcher.

“What apparatus specifically and where does it come from, how is it empowered and by whom?”

I don’t have time to write a book about it, but I’d say it would make interesting reading. Let us just say that I don’t think the recent leftward shift of the GOP is an accident.

“How is it not working, is your local not working? What would working around it be like?”

The local GOP works just fine. And if the national party keeps going left, it won’t be hard to get some of them to defect to a new party. That would be a good start on working around.

Then I'm not communicating effectively. How do you think the elite becomes elite?

I’d rather have a political party that wouldn’t nominate a left-winger

And how would you do that? Not have a primary? Not have the votes count in the primary?

I don’t have time to write a book about it

That would require thinking about: “What apparatus specifically and where does it come from, how is it empowered and by whom?”

The local GOP works just fine.

I'm glad to hear that. Your problem then must be regional, state or national. Where do those 'elite' come from? How do they get their positions?

And if the national party keeps going left

What do you think is the way the party moves left or right nationally? How is your idea of a third party going to change that? What specifically?

“How do you think the elite becomes elite?”
Buying state-level party chairmen, secretaries of state and the like.

“And how would you do that? Not have a primary? Not have the votes count in the primary?”
Actually have a real primary where everybody gets a chance to vote instead of waiting months until the worthwhile candidates drop- 1 day, all across the nation, at one time. And those primaries should be closed.

“What apparatus specifically and where does it come from, how is it empowered and by whom?”
Just start with Ben Ginsberg, then work your way up to his boss. This little dirty pool trick at the convention should give you some clues.

“Your problem then must be regional, state or national. Where do those ‘elite’ come from? How do they get their positions? “
Buying them through patronage, agreements of mutual support, and the like.

“Then I’m not communicating effectively.”
No, you’re trying very hard. The problem is that you are essentially defending a quiet form of corruption. The problem with the snake-oil is that someone has to want to buy it....no sale.

Do you have an example of this?

“Do you have an example of this?”
I am waiting on one I believe will be visible in the near future- I’m expecting to see big rewards for some VA politicians who managed to clear the field in the primary.

So your assertion that the elite become elite “by buying state-level party chairmen, secretaries of state and the like” is based on what, factually?

The fact that power corrupts.

So, no basis in fact.

Might as well thoroughly beg the question with: Those in power are corrupt because power corrupts.

A logical fallacy which still creates a problem for your hypothetically pure third party: a political power without anyone with any power to be corrupted.

Pure, no. Just free of left-wingers and people who seek power for its own sake. And I would cite the nomination of Romney as evidence the process is quite corrupt. Don’t you find it odd that a man who governed in a way that would make most Democrats proud wound up as the Republican nominee for president?

And by the way, if you were looking for a “Priebus handed off a big sackful of cash to xxx on x/x/12” you’re not going to get one. But machine politics are old as this country and long practiced by both parties. That is a fact.

You don’t have anything to back up your assertion the elite become elite “by buying state-level party chairmen, secretaries of state and the like”.

It’s a blanket statement without basis that can be used to avoid honest argument.

I would cite the nomination of Romney as evidence the process is quite corrupt.

He won the primaries against a field of candidates. We had a lousy field and did not unite behind any one notRomney candidate. You could see it coming long ago, and many did. We had to either get a better candidate or unite behind someone else. Didn't happen.

Blaming some nefarious 'elite' has no foundation in truth.
