With $114 million, Obama just outraises Romney in August

President Barack Obama's campaign and its Democratic partners raised more than $114 million in August, narrowly beating Republican rival Mitt Romney for the first time in months as the race for the White House approaches its final stretch.

Former Massachusetts governor Romney and fellow Republicans raised more than $111 million, continuing a string of high-dollar hauls that leave him well equipped to contest the November 6 election.

While Obama shattered every fundraising record in 2008 after becoming the first presidential candidate to opt out of a federal matching funds system, Romney has outpaced him significantly on the fundraising front since April.

That has added to a cash advantage on the Republican side that is helped by the success of outside groups, or Super PACs, that have spent lavishly in support of the Republican candidate with unlimited funds from millionaire donors.

In July the Obama campaign raised $75 million to Romney's $101 million. That discrepancy shifted in August.

The Democratic incumbent broadened his donor base last month with more than 317,000 donors who had never given money before, Obama campaign manager Jim Messina said in a statement. More than 1.1 million donors in total gave to the Obama cause....

The last half of the article is pretty useful.

Obama’s spent a whole lot of money to stay even.

I don’t doubt it. I keep looking for a headline that says Romney is still going to repeal Obamacare but nothing. Does this genius realize how much he raised after SCOTUS decision when he stuck by repeal promise?

Even Christie/NJ said Romney had better do it when elected. Very frustrating that we have to keep watching these guys depress the base when the base is what they need.

He beat Romney by a little over 2 million. Once again, meant to discourage us. Romney has a ton of cash on hand from the fundraising over the summer.

More importantly Republican Super Pacs that will be burying Obama with negative ads as we get closer to October -November have outraised Dems Super Pacs 4 to 1 and have more money on hand than the Romney campaign and the RNC combined. With negative ads on the economy, this election will be returned to a referendum on Obama rather than
a choice between 2 candidates that the DNC convention was temporarily successful in turning it into. As much as folks might not like negative ads, it will be negative ads on the economy that will boost Romney.

” As much as folks might not like negative ads, it will be negative ads on the economy that will boost Romney”.

I don’t agree. The dumbed down entitlement electorate just doesn’t get it. Many of them are already receiving disability or unemployment and THEY LIKE IT cuz they can
get free stuff that Obama and Co. promised them.

The drones aren’t responding to “I’ll improve the economy and create jobs” mantra from Mittens and Co. It’s too complicated of a statement for them to process./s

Expose Obama for the lying, conniving, drug addicted Marxist that he is. Go after his associations with Ayers, Wright and Frank Marshall Davis.
Quote Bam. reading his autobiography ...a goldmine.

Don’t be afraid of being called RACIST. What do they have to
lose at this point?
there is no independent faction to try to woo. The linguine spined “moderates” are Rats who just don’t want to admit it.

Its a difference of three million dollars big freakin deal! Of course Obama would get more money, he has more celebrity supporters who are willing to give him truckloads of money for his re-election. Its not like its a huge difference, just three million its nothing

Dem PhyOps...
Might work for short term. Half is to dishearten conservatives. DON’T let it work.

I would not doubt that the nobama campaign held back some July $ just to include them in with August to “show” the momemtum is turning to nobama. Nothing is ever as it seems on the surface with these people.

What's going on is a concerted media push to drag Obama over the finish line. The Politico story claiming, lamely, that there was a GOP insider (who conveniently needed to be 'anonymous') who said the Romney's internals show him down five in Ohio. The response from the Romney camp was, "Horseshit". This is not the timid response of someone caught in a lie. This is the challenging response of "*YOU*, POLITICO, ARE A LIAR AND WE ALL KNOW IT."

Bottom line is, the media has taken to lying outright to depress and demoralize you. Do not allow them into your head.

Now the DNC can pay the bills instead of running out of town. To me the DNC and Obama is the same. Same what I’m not sure.

Top of the day to you mrsmith.

The key to this election will be the outcome in the swing states. Some list eight swing states and others include up to four more. These states will be where the bulk of the money will be spent and with luck Romney can define himself as a winner in enough to get the nomination.

http://conservapedia.com/Swing_state list the following eight:
Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia.

Four others won by easily by Obama in 2008 are listed as potentials for a Romney win:
Michigan, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Take care.

If I have five dollars and I move it from my purse to my pocket then I can show that my pocket raised five dollars in revenue. This means I now have ten dollars! And if I write an IOU to my shoe box for that ten dollars then that means I have TWENTY DOLLARS!

I suspect that the Obama campaign and the DNC are doing this exact same thing.
