It was weird: @ali and I were the only media in the room. I was nodding off until -- BOOM! Fred makes news. spectator.org/blog/2012/11/0…

Fred Thompson speaks in West Chester, Ohio

BLUE ASH, Ohio News happens in weird ways. While we were driving to today’s Americans for Prosperity event in West Chester, Ali Akbar mentioned an article he’d just seen at Foreign Policy about the Benghazi attack. Meanwhile, CBS News was reporting that “during the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Mission in Benghazi, the Obama Administration did not convene its top interagency counterterrorism resource: the Counterterrorism Security Group, (CSG).”

My mind wasn’t on Benghazi much, and when we got there, the sleep shortage started catching up with me. Quite literally, I was nodding off at one point during Fred Thompson’s speech. And then Fred started talking about Benghazi.

Ali A. Akbar@ali

Never seen Fred Thompson this passionate. Never. He's livid at this administration over #Benghazi.

He never raised his voice, but he was clearly angry and, when it was over, it was obvious that Fred had definitely made news:

Former Sen. Fred Thompson today said he was “totally disgusted” by the Obama administration’s handling of the Libya terrorist attack, saying that U.S. officials failed to act “while our people were being systematically slaughtered” at the Benghazi consulate. Speaking at an event sponsored by the free-market group Americans for Prosperity, the former Republican senator from Tennessee invoked his experience nearly 40 years ago as a Watergate investigator, saying that Congress must “get to the bottom of” the administration’s failures in the Sept. 11 incident that left Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead in Libya. “This is probably the biggest cover-up in American history – and you’re talking to an expert in cover-ups,” Thompson said. . . .

GOOD for him. There needs to be a HUGE cry of outrage across this nation about this. Apparently tonight at the huge rally in Ohio both Rudy and McCain were FURIOUS and BLASTED O about Benghazi.

I wish Fred Thompson had had the fire in his belly in 2008. He’s probably my favorite GOP candidate of recent memory, in large part because he actually had a conservative agenda on immigration.

I guess its up to retired republicans to take up the slack for the republican “leadership” currently employed in congress.

Only the POTUS had the authority to act!

0bama was notified immediately and automatically when the Benghazi consulate triggered the "Imminent Danger Notification System" alert. He did nothing.

Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer (U.S. Army ret.), former CIA Station Chief Gary Berntsen and former CIA operative Mike Baker

They confirm everything Col. Hunt said about automatic notifications to the WH and add more details.

There are three scandals here...

---------------------------------------------------------

Denial of requests for security were a dereliction of duty. The lies and misdirection about the "video" after the attack were fraud and malfeasance under the color of authority. The inaction during the attack was something more than that.

The failure to act during the attack is the direct equivalent of desertion IMO.

ONE man had the authority to act that night.

ONE man deserted his post!

0bama was MIA. 0bama Is A Deserter!

Fred earned my endorsmennt for president some time ago, and I still have my "I'M WITH FRED" coffee cup. I'm not easily fooled by phonies, but this sap and his gold digging wife worked me for thirty dollars in his bid to win the presidency.

Fred's a washed up supporting actor with limited career options to support his much younger wife. It looks like we will see his overfed, balding ass every five to ten years attempting to extort money out of uninformed conservatives that have forgotten his disasterous attempts for public office.

Apparently the reverse mortgage angle has run out of steam and he is running out of money.

We need real leadership now, and Fred is the bottom of the barrel. don't be fooled again by this charletin.
