What the Case for Palin in 2016 Says About Conservatives
The Nation ^ | November 19, 2012 | Ben Adler

In the Republican crack up following their loss on November 6, conservative pundits have tossed out innumerable arguments about how to win next time. It was inevitable that someone would come up with the worst possible idea. And, sure enough, someone has. Writing in the Los Angeles Times on Sunday, conservative pundit Charlotte Allen declares, “I’ve got a suggestion for cutting short the GOP angst: Sarah Palin for president in 2016.”

Reading Allen’s piece is interesting because of what it shows about the mindset of some conservatives: that pundits who think as Allen does have no respect for policy, no seriousness about governance and no respect for the American voter.

Allen hails from one of the more intellectually serious and respectable corners of the conservative media. Her author bio on Townhall.com, a conservative magazine website for which she has written, reads: “Charlotte Allen is a contributing editor for the Manhattan Institute’s Minding the Campus website. She writes regularly for the Weekly Standard and is a frequent contributor of opinion pieces to the Los Angeles Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post.” The Manhattan Institute is a think tank that served as the idea factory for Rudy Giuliani’s mayoralty. Allen contributes to its academia-focused blog. The Weekly Standard is one of the most influential magazines among the DC Republican elite. (Vice President Dick Cheney would send someone to personally fetch thirty copies of it upon publication every week.) It features some of the best writers in conservative journalism, such as Andrew Ferguson, Christopher Caldwell and Matt Labash. So it is not as if analyzing Allen’s is the same as, say, unfairly picking on some random person with his own blog...

Hi, you poor whipped troll.

I'll vote for Sarah in a heartbeat based on her instinctive conservatism and her hatred of graft and corruption.

There was an article awhile back which pointed out that any woman above an "8" was immune to visceral Palin-hatred; suggesting that most women's revulsion for her was simple jealousy.

Which is pretty odd when you consider that she is the literal embodiment of the empowered feminist: a successful career from scratch, based not on connections or Daddy's money or riding Hubby's coattails, but on pure merit.

And married to a hunk stud.

And a career and family at the same time (suck on *that*, Ann-Marie Slaughter: this "Alaska Barbie" managed to "have it all" in a way that even your Princeton professorship couldn't give you!).

Which is what feminism promised to women, right?

So couple that with her radiant looks, and *presto* -- blind, seething rage.

In fact, the operative word is one which women use under their breath or behind other women's backs:

"Bitch."

But nothing substantive about her ability to fill the office -- only accusations from personal spite.

Cheers!

I’m a supporter of Sarah Palin because she is a true conservative and an honest person.

Empowered feminist? Married to a hunk stud? I couldn’t care less.

What she did by cleaning up corruption in Alaska was splendid, just spendid. It is that accomplishment in Alaska, packing the guilty off to prison, that scares the Hell out of establisment Republicans and Democrats.

Sarah Palin is an honest leader - exactly what we need in Washington, D.C.

I agree with you; but I think you misunderstood my post.

The reason I wrote what I did, was not that those things are "why to vote for Palin" -- but why most other women will not.

They're jealous.

Cheers!

You know, a lot of people think there is this give and take and all we have to do is mount another charge to retake the nation.

I am sticking a fork in the nation. It’s over. So lightening up for me doesn’t work. What works for me is prayer and resolve and knowing that nothing matters anymore. The end will come slowly relative to the balance of my lifetime, but the die is cast. The fix is in. We lost this nation.

Lucky are those who falsely believe we can still save this nation. Those people can enjoy their dreams.

People like me — I know the die is cast and we are racing toward hard socialism. There is nothing for me to be light about except that God is in control and has a plan and ultimately what happens on this earth is completely irrelevant.

Other than that, we have passed the tipping point of immoral and uneducated voters and there is no turning back. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

There will be no tea party president for 2016. It will be a GOPe member who is on board with the New World Order and creating the UN’s one world government.

Mark my words and see if I am not right in 2016.

The inability to overturn Obamacare marks the end of American liberty as we know it.

It’s over. Nothing matters. You can think it does but it doesn’t. It’s over and the socialists have one at home while the terrorists are winning abroad.
