House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday linked outgoing Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) to one of the saddest Senate votes in years and suggested DeMints values won't be missed on Capitol Hill.
Pelosi criticized the resigning South Carolina lawmaker and other GOP senators for voting Tuesday against Senate ratification of a United Nations treaty on rights for the disabled.
For them [DeMint and other treaty opponents] to slap the face of our veterans, of people with disabilities, of families with children with disabilities, that was one of the saddest days, Pelosi said in the Capitol, taking care to avoid DeMint's name. So anyone who was a party to that, well, I wish them well wherever they are going, and hope that we can have more of our values represented [by his replacement].
Just hours before, DeMint shocked Capitol Hill by announcing that he's leaving the Senate to take over the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank that had lobbied hard against the U.N. treaty on the disabled.
The treaty would have extended the rights granted under the Americans with Disabilities Act to all nations. It was voted down in a 61-38 vote.
The measure was backed most prominently by former-Senate Majority Leader Robert Dole (R-Kansas), 89, a World War II veteran who came to the Senate chamber in a wheelchair Tuesday night to drum up support from his fellow Republicans.
He fell short...

She HATES patriotic Americans.
I think it best I keep my mouth shut.
DeMint can make the best of his lame-duck status, if he becomes the one Senator required to question the acclimation of the Electoral College vote in January.
Only one Representative and one Senator are required, to throw the Presidential election to the House.
Counterculture File.
grrrrrrrrrrr
me too
I really despise that harpy.
I am with you..words that can possibly be proper simply defy me.
This from the party that axed Tricare for our Vets.
I don’t believe that that is true. You have a url pointer to where it says only 1 house and 1 Senator needed to object?
It think it would require the majority, if not super majority of the whole body to object.
As if the treaty has anything to do with rights of the disabled. It’s about transfer of control and wealth, to our detriment.
what a contrast in class between Pelosi and DeMint. Pelosi trashes him in such a crude way. On the other hand Rush asked DeMint about Harry Reid. DeMint said Reid was his friend and that Reid wasn’t the problem. He said the problem is that conservatives need to get their message out etc etc I don’t particularly like this chummy kind of stuff but must admit DeMint has a lot of class and disciplined restraint to make such a statement
Out of curiosity, when was the last time you saw a Republican behaving the way Nancy Pelosi is behaving?
Part of me questions why our side doesn’t behave this way. The other half questions how such a vile woman has any stake in the realm of political power. She’s truly disgusting in every way.
Where is a giant gavel when you need one?

Welcome BlessingsofLiberty.
I don’t remember anybody from the GOP standing up , on the day of Sen. Byrd’s death, to celebrate the departure of the Klan from the Senate.
3 U.S.C. section 15. is what Research99 is referring to, but he doesn’t understand it. It’s not going to happen.
At the reading of the votes of the Electoral College, it only requires one house member (with sponsorship of one Senator) to object to the acceptance of the votes.
Then Congress is obligated to discuss the matter.
This would be a prime opportunity to finally bring up the eligibility issue, in a forum too prominent to ignore!
Disputes regarding the Electoral College vote for President are resolved within the House, where Republicans retain a majority. That is, unless someone “pulls” a Boehner there.
That Harpy helped construct a bill that directly hurts the parents of special needs children. The Affordable Care Act is going to make care affordable by raising taxes on those parents who used to take advantage of Flexible Spending Accounts offered by employers. Many of those parents would put pre-tax dollars away to cover the enormous out of pocket expenses associated with raising disabled children. The ACA put a limit of $2500 a year on those accounts.
Nancy Pelosi was walking one day when a squirrel ran up under her skirt. The squirrel’s tail hung out from under her skirt, so she grabbed the squirrel’s tail to try to pull him out. She was shrieking, “get out of there you whiskered wretch!”
Two winos were sitting on a bench watching her when one said to the other, “
They’ll ban me again. You figure out the punch line.
