Rove Effort to Destroy Tea Party May be Doomed
ExpertClick ^ | February 11, 2013 | William S. Bike

The history of the Republican Party shows that the effort of Karl Rove and his Conservative Victory Project and Crossroads political groups to neutralize the Tea Party wing of the GOP likely is doomed, said political pundit William S. Bike.

Bike is the author of the book Winning Political Campaigns: A Comprehensive Guide to Electoral Success.

"Whereas the Democratic Party seems to evolve its positions over time, the Republican Party has frequently throughout history been taken over by insurgent groups like the Tea Party, with rearguard actions by the ruling elite attempting to hold on to power usually failing," Bike said.

"It seems counter-intuitive, since conservatism usually is not associated with revolution, but that's been the history of the Republican Party," Bike explained.

"The Republicans started out as the liberal, anti-slavery party in the 1850s, but were taken over by the Robber Barons in the 1870s," Bike continued. "The Theodore Roosevelt Progressives had a Republican revolution in the first decade of the 20th Century, but then the corporatists took the GOP over in the 1920s. The Eisenhower internationalists grabbed the party reigns in the 1950s, but then the Goldwater conservatives and the Eisenhower wing fought for control from 1964 to 1980, until the conservatives under Ronald Reagan took over. With even Reaganism not conservative enough for some Republicans in the first decade of the 21st century, the Tea Party movement won a lot of seats in 2010.

"In each case, the old GOP guard was unable to hold on to power—despite having more money like Rove and his groups do," Bike asserted.

Money still can't beat footsoldiers, doorbell ringers, and true believers, and that's what the Tea Party has, Bike noted....

I think that statement is true and despite all the naysayers the tea party made gains in the house and in the state and local races.

"The Theodore Roosevelt Progressives had a Republican revolution in the first decade of the 20th Century, but then the corporatists took the GOP over in the 1920s.

Progressives are indistinguishable from Fascists.
Corporatists are indistinguisable from Fascists.

Fascism is a Collectivist political ideology. It's Leftwing.

This guy sounds like he's making the case that the Republican Party is a Leftwing party. I guess I would agree with him on that, but the only party so far Left as to deserve the label of Progressive/Corporatist/Fascist is the Democrat party.

Rove’s reputation is DOOMED... he is “out of the closet”..
And with him George Bush Jr.. probably Senior and Jeb as well..

The pubbie party has been ham-stringed with those people.. and others..
The Pubbie Elephant was ham-stringed with a bit in it’s mouth..
Little wonder nothing has been done.. for decades..

New pubbie party mascot.... not an elephant but a WARTHOG..
with weasels galore...
The pubbie Lion King is really a pussy cat..

Slowly back out the pubbie door when you leave.. there’s SNAKES too..

***”The Republicans started out as the liberal, anti-slavery party in the 1850s,...***

Back in the 1800’s liberals were against slavery? How things change - today’s liberals wouldn’t have it any other way.

Another example of vocabulary being kidnapped by the Left. The capitalization matters a great deal.

Traditionally, a "liberal" -- in Europe especially -- has been someone who values individual freedom and who wants government to back off and not oppress people. You can see that a liberal would oppose slavery -- and also oppose welfare, social security, progressive taxes, and obamacare.

On the other hand, a "Liberal" is someone who values groups and the common good and takes a very "open" or "Liberal" view of the power of government for good. Government should take an activist role and do its best to build a utopia where bad things never happen.

No wonder republicans keep losing elections. They specialize in eating their own.

Did any one see how many millions American Crossroads spent on candidates in 2012 Such as Mourdock, Rand Paul, Akin etc?

The GOP establishment, that forgave Sen. McCain’s crimes as part of The Keating Five, and handed him a candidacy because ‘it was owed to him’. The same deal was also what kept Romney around for this time. Neither of which actually voice, or did, anything of the true will of The People, but the will of their handlers and higher GOP_E’s.

The ideals of small government, less spending, less taxation, and more individual responsibility, and less on the backs of others, are ideals that are hated by corporatists, progressives, socialists, and communists. The idea that government cannot be a demigod, horrifies those that wish to control the masses.

The GOP needs a major tree surgeon pruning job, along with nourishing The Tree of Liberty, from all those that have forsaken her!

Long Live The Republic!

The GOP is toast it has lost its base, and they will not be coming back. The GOPe screwed the pooch many times over, but when they tossed the base under the bus at the last convention they drove the last nail into their coffin. Sadly we conservatives have no infrastructure established to construct a truly conservative party.

The over whelming percent of young conservatives are not Reagan followers but Paul followers and while I don’t agree with all their idiot ideas they are the future of the conservative movement, not the Repuglickings. Good thing is they will grow up, marry, and have kids which will change point of view.

“on the other hand” should read “But, in today’s accepted revised usage as defined by the progressive movement”

Bike seems to ignore the leftest takeover of the democrat party to such an extent that in their 2012 national convention they voted out any references to God. And when a resolution was introduced to change it the chair was booed thrice. The party has become so radicalized that it has been hyphenated into “Demo-Coms”.

In fact their campaigns has been to separate and hyphenate races into specialized groups popularizing the uses of terms into categories like “Afro-Americans, “Hispanic-Americans, Asian-Americans et-cetera.

The Republican leadership controlled mostly by groups Bike references often called RINOS and GOPES by their opponents have been unable and unwilling to use and exploit this division created by the radicals which should be considered what is popularly known as a wedge issue dividing democrats.

The more irrelevant they make the ballot box the greater the likelihood of "subsequent boxes" coming into play.
