Three Reasons Conservatives are Losing the Battle for America

1. The Electorate

The Republicans may as well stop their soul-searching and look at the reality of the Democrat electorate. In addition to those Republican voters who stayed home on Election Day, the hard-core (so-called) progressives, the inadequate Republican ground game, and those who pay little or no federal tax and are happy to elect those who promise to take larger sums from those who DO pay, there's a more profound and possibly intractable problem. From my countless discussions with Democrats/liberals, it seems clear that many, many voters - we will never be sure of their numbers - neither hear, nor are interested in hearing, the stance of conservatives or Republicans. I'm often incredulous at the self-satisfied political ignorance and gullibility of successful, otherwise high-functioning and intellectually curious Democrats. The range and depth of their ignorance regarding easily ascertainable facts is astounding ("No, President Obama has NOT increased the deficit: that's a lie! For your information, President Obama has spent less than any President in history!"); and many, in my experience, cite the New York Times as their irrefutable source of information, with phrases like: "The Times didn't mention it so it can't be true or relevant...."

For these people, it really doesn't matter what conservatives or Republicans think or say: they won't hear it! Republican positions are totally lost - unheard and meaningless - to a growing number of the electorate, including huge swaths of highly-educated and effective leaders in society. It would be understating the issue to note that the Republican/conservative "brand" has been sullied - but it begins to convey the nature of the problem: it's more accurate to say that the Republican/conservative brand has been effectively nullified for many people. For a growing number of voters, it doesn't matter what Republicans say...

As I have posted on many threads, I boil it down to two key elements, the media, and education from K thru Grad School.
The Communist do know how to turn a society into a Marxist state.
The abandonment of Communism in Russia and central Europe
has been forgotten now.
The leftist think that it is safe to bring it back, but now
in the USA with premier Obama, to make the USSA.

Absolutely the K-12 publik edukashun system.

It would help if conservatives found a way to make the “national discourse” about something other than “tax cuts for the wealthy”

I have a liberal acquaintance from many years ago. In 1994, I showed her a taped news video of Al Gore making a complete idiot of himself before a group of Virginia high school kids. After the first 5 seconds of a 60 sec video, She turned her head away and refused to look and I also believe refused to hear.

The way liberals “reason” is that liberals are right, conservatives are wrong and all fact to the contrary are false inputs to be ignored and all fact confirming this are not to be questioned.

“America was lost when Ted Kennedy arranged for all six billion people on earth to move here.”

That may have been a problem but now, a lot of people don’t want to come and more than a few want to leave.

its each man/woman for themselves and frankly, it would be hard to team up with anyone who supported bamey by crucifying the opposition from the git go....those people can not be trusted....

To point #1
The establishment handed us moderates such as Bob Dole and Mitt Romney and we lost.

They also handed us an enigma in George Bush. How we won the 1st time was astounding.

Better still, was the weirdness of John F’ing Kerry. If it weren’t for his public arrogance and his Loon wife He would have been president. But, that would have required a bit of tempered discipline.

Bottom line is ideas sell and doing anything one can to come off as agreeable is parsimonious to those you are trying to reach.

They make the mistake of trying to reach those who are self serving and looking to the gubmint for a hand out. Over and Over again.

Then there are True Believers. Everyone should be treated “fairly”. Yeah, right. KMA.

Only in their world can the down trodden being seen as being fairly, while those who are doing well enough to pay the taxes enabling handouts and preferential treatment are gored, pilloried and looted.

That’s right, theives steal from their pockets of anything they deem valuable and the lint on account of it being just right.

To the other two points in the premise: “Correct”.

The Jack Wagons are jacking with us and hijacking the nation for their diseased self serving avarice and envy.

The tax paying class are now the most under represented people in the land.

#1 Renewing the virtue of this country in both the noting public and the folks running for and who are already in office...

#2 Truely believing the conservative position and message by candidates and incumbents...

#3 Winning the cultural battles instead of trying to win the political ones, turning election day into a moot point before the polls open...

The democrats have succeeded, and will continue to succceed on their positions on these 3 points until the republican party gets its leaderships head out of their arses and focuses on them, instead of dismissing the conservative movement and its base...

To which I believe the republican party will not do, because the leadership is now firmly entrenched into the moderate swing of the political pendulum...And doing what it can to disniss and relegate the conservative base into oblivion...

I am frankly bored by all this navel gazing on the part of conservatives/the GOP. Romney gathered 47ish percent of the vote. We lost a close election to an incumbent.

That said, while I know it has changed some, I wonder if the electorate has changed as much as people say? I wonder if there are a few percentage points of Elizabeth Warrens out there who are white leftists claiming to be in some group or another because it pays.

I wonder what percentage of the electorate would be viewed as white, if you just looked at them. I wonder how many white hispanics who would have called themselves white in say 1984, now identify themselves as hispanics.

I find the article disturbing for a number of reasons. I’m not saying you’re wrong; I just think you offer little in the way of help or hope. And there is hope. Though many people have bought the liberal line, many more people still know how to think.

I see the problem conservatives have as one of courage. We fear what the media says about us and what educators say about conservatism, so we hide our opinions or try to water them down and make them more palatable.

I believe it’s time for conservatives to show some courage and fight the lies boldly. Liberals have the media and academics on their side but we have the truth. We need to speak the truth no matter how angry we make liberals. And when the media and academics try to tear us down, we need to respond with the same intensity with which we are attacked. When we are called racist, we must not be afraid to declare how offensive the charge is. When we are portrayed as the bad guys, we must demand proof that the liberal making the charge is right or demand an apology. And we must be relentless in our proclamation of the truth as well as quick to respond to lies.

It’s time to stop rolling over and playing dead. Call out the limo libs and don’t let up. Flood the press with demands for the truth. Stand up to ignorant college professors and don’t back down.

Now is the time for conservatives to be bold and courageous instead of wimpy.

What makes you think this will ever happen? The Republican party has never, in my political life [I'm 30], really worked for one of its party planks, any of them.
Abortion: still legal, no challenges to the propriety of the USSC invalidating state laws for most of the states on what should clearly be protected by the 10th Amendment. (There are credible experts claiming the Partial Birth Abortion ban was/is merely a "feel-good" measure, lacking any real substance.)
Fiscal Responsibility: The upward trend of the deficit, the refusal to cut entire federal agencies.
Government Accountability: hell just look how they rolled over for Fast & Furious, which is a clear case of: state-sponsored-terrorism, treaty violation, and commuting [unauthorized] acts of war.
The Second Amendment: When was the last time you heard serious talk about repealing the GCA or the NFA? (Plus that they claim the Assault Weapon Ban's demise as a credit irks me: the AWB had a sunset clause... meaning they literally had to do nothing.)
Better Taxes: Have you ever heard serious talk about going to a flat-rate no exception/exemption/credit system? [By their actions (esp. WRT the "Bush tax cuts") you'd think they were perfectly fine having such a convoluted/incomprehensible system.]

So why should any young [or old] conservative believe that the Republican party is suited to represent them?

The election was not that close. Everyone has an opinion. More conservative less conservative stupid people ect ect. The math is easy on this one. It is demographics! Bush 41 pulled 61% of white vote and won 400 EV’s. Romney pulled 61% of the white vote and got crushed. Demographics are going to change toward Hispanic, Asian and AA for the forseable future. You either reach out and address there issues or cease being a national party. It is simple really. Should you not think that is the way to go I respect your opinion but expect to be in a dwindling minority for a long time. The math does not lie. Remember un-skewed polls was based on the flawed idea that the demographics of polling were wrong. Not only were they right but many pollsters still under sampled.
