Sarah Palin Says Feds Are Stockpiling Bullets For Civil Unrest
Market Daily News ^ | February 28, 2013 | Paul Joseph Watson

Former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin has warned that the federal government is “stockpiling bullets” in preparation for “civil unrest,” adding that America is “finished” if it cannot deal with its debt problem.

Writing on her official Facebook page, Palin remarked, “If we are going to wet our proverbial pants over 0.3% in annual spending cuts when we’re running up trillion dollar annual deficits, then we’re done. Put a fork in us. We’re finished. We’re going to default eventually and that’s why the feds are stockpiling bullets in case of civil unrest.”

The post achieved nearly 12,000 ‘shares,’ attracting nearly 60,000 ‘likes’ and over 4500 comments.

The Department of Homeland Security has committed to purchasing around 2 billion bullets over the course of the last year, in addition to buying 7,000 fully automatic assault rifles last September (the agency referred to them as “personal defense weapons”).

Although the mainstream media has played down the purchases as the feds merely saving money by buying in bulk, the ammo buys have contributed to shortages across the country.

However, concerns were further stoked last week when Law Enforcement Targets Inc, a DHS contractor that supplies shooting targets to the agency along with thousands of police departments, was forced to apologize for producing “non-traditional threat” targets which featured images of pregnant women, children and elderly gun owners in residential settings.

Politico published an article following Palin’s Facebook post bizarrely claiming that her concerns about the federal government purchasing ammo in large quantities had been debunked despite admitting that “government agencies are, in fact, purchasing large amounts of ammunition.” This tactic of admitting that the government is purchasing a huge number of bullets while simultaneously portraying anyone concerned about the fact as erroneous and paranoid has been adopted by other mainstream media outlets....

Don't kid yourselves, it has happened here before! Lincoln suspended habeus corpus, Washington fought farmers in the Whiskey Rebellion, the National Guard killed striking workers, we decimated the Indians, MacArthur burnt out the Bonus Army, Wilson jailed all kinds of dissenters, FDR jailed Japanese-Americans for no real reason, Obama is killing Americans abroad with no trial, etc., etc.

Well, not all of what happened in that list that was bad.

If riotous union thugs were liquidated, so be it. The belligerent goons of international socialism were just asking for it in my opinion. Likewise, President Reagan was absolutely right when he fired the PATCO knuckle draggers. Had it come to violence, those thugs should have justifiably been put down by the National Guard.

Of course, my overall viewpoint concerning wasn't too popular in my hometown of Pittsburgh since I thought the Pinkerton Detectives were the good guys during the dramatic Homestead Strike of 1892. And to this day Henry Clay Frick is a hero of mine for his principled stand against the evils of unionism.

It seems that you could be more help than you are being.

Is this a routine purchase, a purchase of this size is normal and just a repeat of past orders?

Why do they use such expensive bullets for routine target practice?

Have you, hasn’t anyone ever questioned the practice?

Why isn't any other so called Republicans speaking out about this? Why does she always have to take the lead?

Sarah Palin takes the lead because it is what leaders do. The GOP-e is leaderless. But, you already knew all that, I'm sure. Palin's leadership ability and strong, deeply held conservative convictions are why so many of us want her as president.

Typical government agencies have budgets that operate under a use-it-or-lose it model. It is possible that in this type of govy purchase, they consolidate. Makes sense. But what does not fly, is the massive amount of purchase. And at this time (bad economy). Yes, that HPs are used on the range is truly believable and wasteful, given it is the government. But this is truly not a cost-savings move. That is another outright lie only believable by LIVs and fools. Budget excesses that “must” be spent typically only run for one year, not enough money to buy for many years.

The FBI has a long and storied history of opening fire on civilians. So does the US military. Google up The Bonus Army sometime.

My point is to ask your experience with the subject we are discussing. Are you a military veteran, current service-member, former or present-day law enforcement officer? I'm not questioning your “patriotism” just your background and familiarity with the subject of this thread.

Frankly, it's ALWAYS better to practice with the same ammunition you use.

Expecting professionals to follow the hobbyist's cost-cutting practices is simply myopic.

Our ‘Liberators’ can liberator the billions of rounds that have been purchased with our money...before they use those rounds against us.

I’m well aware of the concept, but this isn’t limited to professional shooters, or some training, this is just always using expensive ammo for the masses who work in these departments, for routine qualifying and target practice, these aren’t SWAT and professional shooters.

Is this a routine purchase, a purchase of this size is normal and just a repeat of past orders?

By the way, during the Vietnam war, many of us professionals used ordinary BB guns, not just in place of today's lasers in mock combat, but for actual target practice, unaimed shooting from the waist at targets 2/3rds the size of a playing card. I found it very effective and have often thought that it should return.

Many of us "professionals" also took target practice with adapters so that we could use 22 caliber ammo in our M-16s.

Yes, Sarah is sounding the alarm. And she might add, for those not so bright, that the reason the fedzilla is stockpiling ammo is their belief that when the collapse comes, resupply will not happen, so they order mucho plenty and stockpile it in warehouses. Fedzilla sees the economic collapse coming, so why don’t We The People acknowledge that it is rushing toward US?

I must (respectfully) disagree. Anyone who carries a firearm as a function of their job is a "professional" by definition.

ANY training with a load other than what one normally carries is an invitation to a lethal surprise as no two loads feed and function exactly the same in any individual firearm.

Further, your contention that these are for "the masses" argues MORE for the use of standard loads as training ammunition, because that would mean fewer rounds fired to establish proper feed and function of any particular weapon with that load.

Ping pong balls. Start sittin’ and learn to stand up. Moved on to pop-up targets, with adjusted ammo. Now today- yeah, DHS is just following “due diligence” target loading practices. I rest assured their tactics, are not, as well honed as their fear.

Extremely lame, for those of us who have been professionals.

Is this a routine purchase, a purchase of this size is normal and just a repeat of past orders?

The real issue puzzling people, is the amounts, and I notice the contrarians keep ignoring that part.

I haven’t been following this issue closely, but I haven’t noticed that the amounts have been explained away.

I keep looking for a couple of simple explanations, why spend so much on target bullets for qualifying, and is this routine, merely the same old order they always make.
