Former Bush staffer: GOP should be ‘outspoken’ advocate for gay marriage (Guess who?)
MSNBC's Morning Joe ^ | March 4, 2013 | Drew Katchen

Posted on 03/04/2013 5:30:44 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Last Thursday, in a sign that the GOP is recalibrating its image after 2012, 100 prominent Republicans (many of whom are no longer serving in office) signed a friend-of-the-court brief seeking to overturn California’s Proposition 8, which effectively banned same-sex marriage in the state shortly after it became legal. The brief states the opinion that marriage is a constitutional right for gay couples—a position that goes beyond even President Obama’s stance on marriage equality.

One of the signers, former communications chief for George W. Bush and senior advisor for the McCain–Palin campaign Nicolle Wallace, joined Morning Joe Monday morning to share why she supports the GOP’s effort for marriage equality.

President Obama also filed a similar brief on Thursday, marking the first time a president has asked the Supreme Court to allow gay couples to marry. Obama stopped short of calling marriage equality a constitutional right....

I have never seen an issue take such a 180 degree turn in a 12 month period. A year ago, this issue was political suicide. No state had every approved gay marriage, and only through court manipulation was it even an issue. NC became yet another state to resoundingly confirm marriage as man and woman, and then days later Obama made the big dither away from his previous position.

Crazy times we live in.

The depraved (GOP) want to embrace the depraved. There’s an easier way. A flying leap off the Golden Gate.

In some ways it reminds me of,the collapse of the USSR when all the republics broke away. It seemed like almost every day there would be one more to,break away and the pace quickened by the day.

I would not be surprised to wake up in the morning and read that Dick Cheney and Clint Eastwood support gay marriage.

We, the people of California, voted TWICE in favor of Prop 8!

It is done! Leave it alone!

Promoting what the Almighty abhors is a serious collision course up ahead. That’s one doomed train we would rather not ride to destination end.

Just wait. They’ll force the boy scouts to have gays, and then a homosexual child rapist/murderer will be caught operating as a scout leader.

Oh, yeah, Nicole Wallace, the hag who torpedoed Sarah Palin in the election of 2008. Is anyone surprised she’s a liberal?

Then, the whole group gets shut down, and the secularists, Christian Haters , gays, and feminNazis finally get their way.

Again

All the alarms have been shorted, apparently. To think, with all the problems - including a mad central government working to checkmate political will while continuing preparations for an actual shooting civil war - the bizarre preoccupation of the chattering classes might be something other than this obsession with officially embracing deviant behavior.

There is no end to these distractions.

When there’s no difference in Democrat and Republican; then what’s the use? Most people will take the real thing over the carbon copy every time. - The government has its finger in EVERYTHING.

The Republican party nominated a man who had run against Ted Kennedy, proclaiming that he was more able to deliver the homosexual agenda than Ted, the man who became the Governor who allowed gay marriage, and who in the 2012 election repeated his support for homosexualizing the military and the Boy Scouts, positions that he had held at least since 1994.

Mitt Romney, and the party’s acceptance of him, has had an effect not only on the GOP but on the nation.

Things that republicans could claim to be just a few years ago, or even one year ago, can’t be claimed today.

We'd been seeing the polls move this way for years, but politicians were still afraid to come out of their closets. Then came last November, and the people actually voted for it in a big way. 4 for 4. Is it any wonder that the politicians are now crawling out from under their rocks to show how much they agree?
