President Obama and Republican senators had a “good exchange of ideas” this evening during their roughly two-hour-long dinner at the posh Jefferson Hotel, just blocks from the White House, according to a senior administration official.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., gave the meeting a thumbs up as he exited the hotel, saying it was “just fine,” “great” and “wonderful.”

McCain told reporters gathered across the street that it was a “very enjoyable evening,” but declined to discuss specifics.

Obama invited 12 GOP senators to break bread as part of a larger effort to jump start budget negotiations and try to cut a deal with rank-and-file Republicans.

“The president greatly enjoyed the dinner,” the administration official said.

But did they make any progress?

“We’ll see,” Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., told reporters....

You know the only reason these pubbies got picked is the potus thinks they’re weak. That doesn’t say much for his dinner guests.

With all due respect, I think you’ve been living in California too long.

Breaking bread is only for the little people. Breaking crab claws and lobsters is more the elite’s style.

Yep. Without a doubt. They'll give his majesty anything he wants.

This is why we need to clean out the old rags. They've become soiled. (bad company corrupts good character)

Does anyone else think the relationship between McCain/Graham is a little strange? Maybe the left has them blackmailed?

I bet the cost of having this dinner at the hotel, especially the cost of the secret service agents, would have paid for a week of american school children touring the white house.

ANd since they didn’t fire the white house cooking staff, why couldn’t they have this meal AT the white house?

Obama proves every day that all of his nickle-and-diming the american people on the sequester is just BS, because he spends more than that in an hour of extravagance.

“What does this administration have to do to stop the RINOs from bending over?”

Absolutely nuthin’. They’ll be bendin’ over, regardless.

Remember the film, “Thelma and Louise”? How a recurring theme in that movie was, whenever the two central characters came to a fork in the road…. they took the wrong turn…?

This is playing out in real life with the Republicans. Whenever there arises a “moment of conflict” with the president or the ‘rats, count on the Pubbies to ALWAYS “take the wrong turn”, leading down a pathway to humiliation and defeat.

They seem duty-bound to act this way.

If they can’t or won’t change, look for them to drive right off the cliff in 2014….

First of all, he never pays “out of his own pocket” — he has a full expense coverage, so I doubt he actually went to his bank account.

And I’m positive he didn’t pay for the extra security needed to clear a restaurant for the meeting.

At least 5 on the list were considered tea party or otherwise good conservatives.

But for some, it’s just more fun to argue that you can’t eat with anybody who isn’t a solid conservative, or it somehow taints you.

Personally, I’d like to see a lot MORE meetings with Obama. He has shown in the past that he likes to be liked, so if we made him hang around with our side all the time, he might start doing things to feel loved and appreciated.

And now John McCain is stabbing Rand Paul in the *ss over his filibuster, calling it ‘not helpful’, ‘ridiculous’.

I guess if you buy McCain dinner he’ll put out for you on national TV. Useless old attention-whore.
