It teaches them the difference between real and play....a golden teaching opportunity for parents...and that is what they do. Everyone I know has personally taught their children about guns and all the associated safety issues.

All children should learn how to swim and basic firearms safety. Early. Those are about equally important.
How to put on a condom can wait a little bit.

Because ignorance of the world around you is a Progressive value!

Well, I don’t go to gun shows anymore, but they should definitely ban strollers. Parents with infants in strollers blocking the isles.

If I were king every kid would be required to attend marksmanship classes.

BB-guns in grades 1 and 2, .22s in grades 3-6, .223 in grades 7-9, .308, 30-06, 7mm mag and such, and .45 ACP in grades 10-12.

The schools have an armory (and an armorer), indoor range for the small stuff, outdoor 200-yard range at the high schools.

What a wonderful world that would be!

I know there's a First Amendment and all, but I can't express how outraged I am that not only do libraries allow children inside, they even have a children's section!!!! Who is willing to argue that the First Amendment was meant to allow children access to high-capacity libraries with arsenals of millions of books? Who even needs a library? No one can read that many books. Sure, there's a First Amendment, but this is ridiculous. It's time for reasonable, sensible, modest, common-sense restrictions on libraries and access to books. Almost anyone can get a "library card" which allows people to not only read any book they want in a library, but even take it home where they could read such material without being monitored. The threat to public safety is intolerable!

Mam, in 6 short years that 12 year old could be in some foreign shithole like Afghanistan getting shot at by muslims.
Nothing wrong with them being at a gun show now!

Someone should introduce a bill prohibiting the same age children from being taught about sex, going to the movies, taught to read, etc., just to show the idiocy of it all.

My grand daughter (now 13) often accompanied me at gun shows when she was little.

There were always a few tables full of odds and ends and one of them had a bunch of glass "jewels" shaped like hearts and moons and such. She picked out a few and I bought them for her, which made her quite happy.

She gave me one, on the spot--a pink glass heart, which I carry to this day.

It reminds me that the love of a child is pure, durable, and transparent, but their hearts can be broken. It is also a reminder of the trust and strength there, and even as she enters her teen years, we remain close. (I taught her to shoot a few years later).

Now, I wouldn't trade that for all the tea in China, nor would I wish that anyone in the future be deprived of the opportunity to have a similar experience.

It isn't just about guns, but she has been pestering me to pick up an AR-15 just so she can shoot it, and has her eye on a couple of pistols for when she gets old enough...

That's my girl!

Back in the days before Congress made mail order sales illegal by enacting the 1968 Cub Control Act, I bought a new Colt AR-15 SP1 Sporter for $189.50 + tax and shipping. That put me in good stead because I wound-up in Viet Nam (1969) assigned as a 2nd class Gunner's Mate (Guns) assigned to the Mobile Riverine Force (TF-117),

We debarked from our DHC-5 Buffalo at a forward airstrip near the joint Army-Navy base at Dong Tam. The Army SFC told me and the other Navy replacements to throw our sea bags in the trailer and climb aboard the 2-1/2 ton truck, He told us to grab a steel pot, flak jacket, and M16A1. All the guys with me were administrative types and had never seen an M16. I had to give these guys a fast weapons handling in the field lecture before we got underway. Fortunately, my familiarly with the AR-15 got me through this because the Navy hadn't trained me on this rifle.
