Democrats Propose Bill To Expand School Lunches To Weekends And Holidays

Why stop there?

Maybe public schools should buy clothing for children, take them to the doctor and teach them to walk.

Little by little, progressives are trying to remove the role of parents from the lives of children and this will continue unabated until Republicans are back in power at which point, liberals will once again decry the overreaching power of the state.

The Hill reports…

Dem bill would expand school lunch program to weekends, holidays

Four House Democrats have proposed legislation that would expand school lunch programs to weekends and holidays.

Rep. Dina Titus (D-Nev.) proposed the bill, which would amend the Richard Russell National School Lunch Act to set up weekend and holiday “feeding programs.” The proposal is meant to help ensure that at-risk school children meet their nutritional needs, but it would only extend this help during the school year, not during the summer......

Why don’t they just give them all a cot and let them live at the school. Orphanages for all.

If they are going to feed the kids at school, then they just need totally eliminate all food stamps and EBT cards for families who have children.

Huey Long had the same sentiment, but with a whole lot more style.

Section 8 is a rental program, I meant actual houses that go directly to the welfare recipient.

Plot from the movie, “Dumb and Dumberer”:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dumb_and_Dumberer:_When_Harry_Met_Lloyd

“...Meanwhile, the corrupt Principal Collins (Eugene Levy) is searching for a way to get a large amount of money to get a condominium in Waikiki. Seeing Harry and Lloyd getting hoisted on a flagpole, Principal Collins establish a ‘special needs’ class to swindle $100,000 from the local community. Obviously, Harry and Lloyd are more than thrilled to help, and thus find themselves signing up people who are ‘different’ for the class.”

Exactly. They show these sob stories about how hard it is to feed kids on foodstamps but they don’t mention that they get free breakfast, lunch, and in some districts dinner (along with free after school care). It makes me feel like a fool all those years of true hardship I went through providing for 4 kids when I didn’t have much money.
Well I guess that leaves more for the parent(s) steak, or sell the food for drugs.

I paid to send my kids to the worn-out fifty year old parochial school, right next to the brand new state of the art public school.
I drove my kids to school through the caravans of school busses picking up and dropping off the public school kids.
When I was a kid, going to the parish school, I thought that we must be the fortunate ones to be able to go to a private school. We wore uniforms with ties, and the girls had skirts. The public school kids wore tee shirts and jeans.
I wonder what my kids think now, as we look the less fortunate.

Feeding programs? Moooo...

Just get them a harness for their feed bags and a sack of non-ethanol goobermint corn and they can graze all day long.

But WAIT! Pass the bill now and we’ll include midnight snacks for only $200,000,000,000 more!

They bus the kids back to school on weekends and holidays? Or is it a ‘meals on wheels’-type program?
Recall in the novel ‘Animal Farm’, one of the first things the pigs did upon seizing power was to take custody of the litter of puppies.
