The people leaving California are generally conservatives, who are sick to death of liberals.

Exactly. I don't see why otherwise-intelligent people here don't get this. White flight has been going on for some time now from CA - and it is the conservative producers that are leaving. Why would a liberal leave their utopia? Most states should be thrilled to have people with money and conservative values move in.

When I traveled to KY and TN this summer, and told everyone I talked to that I was on a relocation trip because we were escaping CA - they were very positive about having us move there. They knew we wouldn't be escaping if we were liberals and that we'd bring our resouces to be used in their state. Smart people - and also very kind and have adorable accents.
