Eleanor Clift: Obama Could Win in 2014 Midterms by Losing Legislative Battles Now
The Daily Beast ^ | April 10. 2013 | Eleanor Clift

Posted on 04/10/2013 4:32:31 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

The expectation is taking hold that this week, and the handful of weeks that follow, are the crucible of the Obama presidency, with showdowns on gun safety, immigration reform, and deficit reduction that will define the Obama legacy.

But if not, there’s always 2014.

Unless the White House and its allies are able to break the logjam in Congress, the president will have no choice but to turn his full attention to the midterm election, where Democrats have an outside chance of taking back the House and providing Obama friendlier terrain to finish out his term and secure his agenda.

The president is already pressing hard, raising money for Democrats, and framing issues in such a way that the GOP is on the short end of the polls on virtually every issue, even same-sex marriage, which used to benefit Republicans. Yet a bipartisan deal on universal background checks for gun buyers remains elusive, and Republicans are threatening to filibuster whatever measures to restrain gun rights are brought to the Senate floor, possibly as early as Thursday—a maneuver that could deny Obama a legislative victory but serve him well politically.

“Winning is best but you can win by losing,” says Paul Equale, an attorney and longtime Democratic activist. “It depends on the perception of how the deal fell apart.”

It is powerful stuff when the Newtown families go on 60 Minutes to talk about transforming their grief into political action, and then fly to Washington with Obama on Air Force One to go to Capitol Hill and confront the 13 Republican senators vowing to block action, along with GOP leader Mitch McConnell. Their visibility, like the 9/11 families in New York a decade ago, takes lobbying to a whole new emotional level that the GOP may find hard to withstand politically.....

Hahahaha! They're reduced to lame spin about "winning through losing" and taking back the House? If anyone's going to lose from this situation, it'll be Red State Democrats. And who in the world still watches 60 Minutes? Does Miss Clift not know it's 2013, not 1975?

I wouldn't be too quick to laugh. The Old Media is still very powerful, and they can do a lot to convince the Sheeple that all of these current problems could have been solved if only there were fewer Republicans in Congress.

Obama doesn't care about issues. He wants power. He'd be happy to lose now if he could get the House in 2014.

With redistricting the only way we lose the House is if our leadership folds and the base stays home to punish them in 2014.

"the president will have no choice but to turn his full attention to the midterm election

So Obambi will flit around the country side for the next 18 months like a butterfly looking for flowers while the country goes to hell in a handbasket. And these idiots think this will lead to more Democrat votes?

HE'$ B-A-A-C-C-K---Obama promises “a frank and intimate discussion, will answer questions and take a photo,” at an elite $32,400 per couple NY fund-raiser.

But panhandling Obama has annoyed the Dem elite. “It’s like ‘Lord of the Flies’....he's cannibalizing donors.” Others expressed fund-raiser fatigue: “It is stunning that he's back. We’d like to see some results for the money we’ve already given."

But the greedy Obama camp anticipated there would be realcitrant donors who might refuse to attend.

The invite explains to sap-happy Dems: “You may ask why the fund-raiser and the reason is twofold....we've built a large campaign operation melding a 2 million grass-roots army of volunteers with ground-breaking technology . . . We can’t let Republicans catch up. The White House alone doesn’t have the manpower or the resources to withstand Republican attacks and control the message......The DNC is the only organization whose sole mission is to support the president and help him pass his agenda...such as gun control or immigration reform.”

================================

Hey gang, remember when 2012 candidate Obama bragged that he was so popular, he was being showered with campaign donations---and that he was the very first billion dollar candidate? And remember when later in the campaign he suddenly announced he had to "borrow" money to continue campaigning?

What happened to the billion? Did Republicans demand to seee the FEC reports--Obama was required to file by law? Did Repubs demand to know why he had to borrow money to finish his campaign if he had a billion dollars?

UNCLE OBAMA---legacy freak

Dems whine---"We’d like to see some results for the money we’ve already given Obama." The suckers have seen it but can't believe it----endless golf outings, multiple vacations in Hawaii, ski trips to Aspen, Vail & Sun Valley. Mrs O's diamond jewelry collection, closets full of designer dresses, buying his legacy, financing her campaign for elective office.

A classic Ponzi scheme---Obama sweet talks the suckers into giving him money for "a worthy cause" then spends it all on himself....living large on OPM.

RICH-HATERS IN THE WH The Ohaha's say they hate the rich---but the O's know how to spend OPM. The family blew $1.4B on travel and entertainment for themselves and their numerous personal staffs last year: that's 2000 times more than what the entire British Royal Family cost the UK ($57.8M)----$27 million bucks a week is only the tip of the iceberg:

White House sources claim Michelle (with a staff of 24) went through $10M of taxpayer money last year on just her own private trips and shopping sprees, with one calling the First Lady's self-indulgent spending orgy -including extravagant massages, top-shelf booze, and five-star hotels 'disgusting'.

NRO tallied what taxpayers are paying for the Ohaha's living in the White House: $1.4 billion per year: Air Force One ($181,757 per hour), executive chef ($100,000 per year), three full-time White House calligraphers ($ 277,050 per year for the trio), chief of staff to the president’s dog ($102,000 per year), Ohaha's royal motorcade ($2.2 million).

==========================================

$1.4 BILLION is the current annual cost of the White House — just in household expenses, not including US policy operations for which the WH exists-- administered by some 900 parasites---policy staff recruited by Ohaha.

Annually, Ohaha vacations cost $20 million (the low estimate for Ohaha's Hawaii vacay was $4 million, but the true cost is probably five times that); the first family’s yearly health-care costs are $7 million; more than $6 million is spent on the White House grounds each year. Transportation costs were a staggering $346 million last year.

The O' kids were flying aroound to the Bahamas and Sun Valley.....while US kids were shut out of the WH supposedly due to sequestration Secret Service cutbacks. The O's galivanting teen daughter was spotted in NYC last week---with girlfriends---dining at the pricey Buddakan, scoffing up rock shrimp, edamame dumplings, short ribs, lobster fried rice........replete w/ five Secret Service guards dining nearby, while students her age were denied access to the people's house.

LEARNING TOUR? M/M O pictured w/ partly-shrunken Ivory Coast official 2009.

Malibu home of Ivory Coast dictator's son.

The oil-rich Ivory Coast has one of the worst human rights records in Africa whose rulers are accused of funneling millions of public monies into their own pockets. But now it looks like the son of the dictator----Teodoro---whose world— comprised yachts, Bugattis, and Michael Jackson memorabilia—could come crashing down, according to Foreign Policy (via Curbed).

Foreign Policy's Ken Silverstein reported that after a four-year investigation into alleged extortion and laundering of $100 million in the US and "theft of public funds, or other corrupt conduct" back at home, the Justice Department has filed notice of a lawsuit involving the possible seizure of Tedoro's California mansion, and other assets.

And French investigators just seized millions of dollars' worth of his sports cars, while the Spanish government is investigating the entire Obiang clan. Teodoro reportedly hasn't spent much time stateside recently, in part thanks to various legal actions against him.

Just a peek inside the insane world of Teodoro---he first came to the U.S. to attend Pepperdine University in Malibu. While tuition cost just $3,400, he managed to blow through $50,000 in the first five months before dropping out. Source: Business insier--LA Weekly.

Teodoro is listed as the owner of this $35 million mansion on the Malibu coast, which he paid for in cash. It was the most expensive home sold in California in 2006, and has a tennis court, swimming pool and 4-hole golf course.

Teodoro's on the government payroll as "minister of agriculture and forestry," and supposedly makes just $5,000 per month. But his Malibu home contains $60,000 worth of rugs, a $58,000 home theater and a $1,734 pair of wine glasses.

==============================================

Mrs O wore her pricey diamond bangles sat a DNC fund-raiser last Sept, attended by "tolerant and compassionate" Dems....raised big bucks to keep Mr O in office so he could work for "the poor." Her diamond Gothic cuff was priced at $15,350 set with 2.17 carats in diamonds and the Quatrefoil bracelet at $11,800 set with 1.73 carats in diamonds. (Excerpt) Read more at houston.culturemap.com

Tain’t funny McGee...

That is EXACTLY Obama’s plan.

He doesn’t WANT gun control passed today, so that he may campaign against the “Extremists” in 2014.

Same with the budget.

With “Immigration Reform”, he wins whether legislation passes or not.

obama [the Democrats] ill win the 2014 mid terms regardless of whether he "loses" the leglislative battles or if he doesn't. Why? Because in 2012 the Democrats perfected their meyhod of stealing elections. That coupled with the Republican Party's history of refusing to fight and surrender bodes bad for freedom lovers. On the other hand, those who wish to be Governmental slaves and Governmental property will be in 7th heaven. For awhile, then they will be dead.

But this talk about obama losing leglisative battles is just wishful thinking. The Republican Party will bravely snatch victory from the jaws of defeat for him as required. This background check baloney that is currently in the Senate is a good example. The Republicans battle cry, "The American people deserve an up or down vote on this". As they join the Democrats in destroying or at least neutralizing it. However, when it was President Bush saying the same thing in reference to his judicial nominations, it fell on dear ears and was ignored.

The only way those who wish to be once again under the Constitution can accomplish this is for them to defear the Republican Party, the Democrat Party, what is now the indoctrination system[at one time it was known as the educational system] along with the main stream media. Other that that the freedom lovers and responsible individuals have a conscience to guide them. The parasite and leech class do not have a conscience. They are like the wild animals, me,me,me is who they think about. They get hungry, one way or another the get food and eat. tThey get horney, they find someone to have sex with. They get tired, they sleep.

Well, sort of. The House didn’t see the impact we saw on with Romney and the pathetic Senate campaign efforts last year. Our House seats are mostly so gerrymandered, most would with stand an even more demoralized base turnout. There just are not many seats that will switch. If we turn out in even moderate levels, we’ll likely keep the House. Only our leadership (or lack of) can cost the House this decade.
