There are times when the words "never" and "always" are the only ones that work. In my case, "never" is becoming the word I must use to describe how I feel about certain candidates for high office. For example, I voted four times for a Bush and once for a McCain something I will never do again.
In 1988, it was Bush the elder over Michael Dukakis. In 1992, I resisted the temptation to punish President "Read-My-Lips" by casting my ballot for Ross Perot, knowing that a vote for the pintsized Texas screwball would simply be handing the presidency to Bill Clinton.
In 2000, Bush 43 was not my first choice in the primaries, but after he captured the nomination, there was no possible way I could mark a ballot for eco-fraud Al Gore, and Dubya got my vote. By 2004, when he was running for reelection, it was a no-brainer against ultra-lib John Kerry.
In 2008, John McCain was my last choice for the Republican nomination. He redeemed himself somewhat by picking Sarah Palin as his running mate, and given a choice between McCain-Palin and Obama-Biden, well, as the old saying goes, I was born at night but it wasn't last night....

Rubio v Hillary.....? A no brainer.
Rubio is your typical bottom-dwelling RINO and deserves the respect you’d give a pile of Obamastuff lying there on the sidewalk in the sun...stinking, putrid, loathsome.
I respected him once, but RINOplasty has had its effect.
Flush him.
Nobody has to make a decision on that till 2016 for either the senate or the (gasp!) presidency.
Let me choose, a slow painful death with a new surprise every minute or so or a quick death?
Rubio & Romney would make a great pair of used car salesmen.
I just don’t trust Rubio on the illegal alien issue. And there’s the whole natural born citizen question although the Obama precedent has probably made that a moot point.
The ONLY thing Rubio has going for him is his race. If his name was Smith and he could trace his roots back to the Mayflower would anyone be talking about him?
Likewise, if Obama was white, would he have ever made it in politics at all? The difference is that the D’s are about that sort of non-substance tripe. The R’s have a small cadre of members that might try to push in that direction but it goes against the principles and world view of most rank and file republicans.
Nobody has to make a decision on that till 2016 for either the senate or the (gasp!) presidency.
The time is now to start backing whoever we will stick with through thick and thin. I can promise you RIGHT NOW that we will pick a woman or minority this time. The time for white males is just about finished. If you could support Sarah Palin, then support her and make them say bad things about a woman. If you can support Ted Cruz, then make them say bad things about a Hispanic. If we put another white male up, it will be Hillary and we won't be able to say anything without looking as bad as her husband. I still think Newt is the brightest man in the room, but doubt he will line up for the next stoning. My only hope is that the next president will make him part of the cabinet or some adviser.
Right now, Rubio is the one with the flame lit. To stop him, we will need someone at least as attractive. I've seen and heard Rubio and know that he can be a conservative. If you don't like his immigration policy, then we have to raise someone else up to his stature and that will be hard.
Another thing to think about is the media. McCain was a darling of the media until he was against Obama. They might as well have lined him up on a wall and shot him. The "Maverick" was no longer appealing to the left after they put him in as the standard bearer. Whoever we pick better be able to stand the stones and arrows for a couple of years before the election. One thing about Palin is that she has been vetted 6 ways to Sunday. I would hate to have a years worth of my emails made public. To find absolutely NOTHING is almost unthinkable. They couldn't even find something to spin the wrong way. Right now, Cruz could get my vote, even though he hasn't had the anal exam others have had. You can bet it's coming, but I think he is the real deal. Bachman has headaches so she couldn't possibly run the country. Santorum is a Christian, so forget that. Perry can't put together a sentence even though he has the state with the most jobs and no income tax. We have a large field, but only a couple could be winners. All would be better than what we have now, but that's not how presidents are chosen. Looks to me like it will be the one most people would like to have a beer with, forget how they would run the government. Maybe Jay-Z will run next time.
As a Floridian, I had great hopes for Rubio. He said all the right things in his race against Charley Crist. Told us he would never, ever support amnesty for illegals.
I realized he was a complete fraud last summer, bought and paid for like most every other politician when he voted to continue the subsidies to big sugar.
It does not matter. The NE primary first states and corn country will pick our candidate just as they have the last two times. We need all primaries to be closed and to occur with 30 days of each other in March. Then the top two of that round have a run off for the nod 30 days later.
This question comes to mind.... “Should I vote for John McCain?”
Rubio needs and deserves to be defeated in a primary.
He is as worthless as Scott Brown proved to be.
Next.
I disagree. Rubio would have never supported Dodd-Frank nor would Scott Brown voted with Cruz on Gun Control.
It's the party of control freak Bloomberg, the untrustworthy Christie, of rudderless Romney, of BIG spenders like Bush and crew and new world/one world order types like his dad and much of the Senate and Rubio the amnesty pusher with the George Soros connections.
Compromisers all. Enablers all. And, all untrustworthy and undeserving of the power of our representation.
This is the republican party and has been for decades. They have taken over for the old democrats who became full strength progressive socialists.
So, why would I want to join them or call myself one?
It could be said today that Rubio /The Hildabeast would be the nominees. This seems to be what the elites would pick. I have this thing in the back of my mind that neither might make it. I’ll go with a long shot & say Perry/ Cuomo. Of course the (D) will win it with low info voters, takers from taxpayers & fraud. Ya can’t beat that combo. Democracy & individual responsibility have left that train.
