Former Rep. Ron Paul said the law enforcement that swarmed around Boston in the days following the marathon bombings was scarier than the actual terrorist attack.
“The Boston bombing provided the opportunity for the government to turn what should have been a police investigation into a military-style occupation of an American city,” he said on the Lew Rockwell website, Politico reported. “This unprecedented move should frighten us as much or more than the attack itself.”
The terror attacks on April 15 in Boston killed three and injured 264.
Mr. Paul, a former libertarian political candidate who served in Congress as a member of the Republican Party, said the door-to-door searches police conducted in Watertown for the bombing suspects were particularly alarming.
They reminded of a “military coup in a far off banana republic,” he said....

I agree the Police locking people in their homes and then invading those homes was scary and in violation of the Constitution.
Simply made me wonder how many latin American coups Ron Paul has been involved in ~ gotta’ be more than one.
They didn’t ‘lock’ people in, it was a voluntary lock down. There was only one incident of someone’s home being ‘invaded’ after supposedly a neighbor lied about another one they didn’t like saying the suspect was in that house. It went rather smoothly.
Which does beg the question, given the circumstances, especially considering the night before they were throwing home-made bombs at the police and found more in their car, along with a massive shootout, what were they supposed to do?

Really? You’ve seen thousands of cops bused in for snow storms and hurricanes? Did they bus in military humvees for those as well?
I find it curious because I’ve lived through hurricanes and you rarely see a cop during one of those.

Really the actually bombing and the “lock down” are really two different issues...
Both are scary for very different reasons....

lol yeah, there were so many cops bused into Alabama, Mississippi, and north Florida.
The one area to receive an overage of cops also experienced the only firearm confiscation. hmmmmmm

Well, the scary part is that they fired about ten bajillion rounds and managed to kill a boat.

I’m no RP fan (dangerous defense/foreign policy ideas) but the old man’s got a point here.
