Tea Party Group Drafting Sarah Palin to Run for Alaska Senate
US News and World Report's Washington Whispers ^ | April 30, 2013 | Elizabeth Flock

"Do the words 'Senator Sarah Palin' excite you?"

That's the opening line of a recent email by The Tea Party Leadership Fund, which is trying to draft the former Alaska governor and past Fox News commentator to run for the Senate in 2014. The fund argues Palin has a clear path to victory in part due to recent polling showing incumbent Sen. Mark Begich, a Democrat, with less than 50 percent of the vote.

But, it being a draft, the group hasn't talked with Palin about whether or not she's interested. And Palin – whose PAC didn't respond to request for comment from Whispers – is believed to be currently residing in Arizona, not Alaska. The fund's Niger Innis says the interest of Tea Party members in a Palin run, however, is clear.

"We didn't know that [the draft] was going to catch fire to the degree that it has. And what that tells us is that this is just the beginning," he says. "It's gone viral."

But not all Tea Party groups are enthused about drafting Palin without first gauging her interest....

Given the blizzard of frivilous and groundless ethics complaints being filed against her AND that she was having to pay out of her own pockets to fight said complaints that were driving her to bankruptcy, you know that was NOT an option.

I agree with you totally. I also think that she would NOT run for office again in AK because the same people that tried to ruin her with lawsuits and ethics compmlaints would do so again.

It’s not worth her time.

I would love to see her and Ted Cruz filibuster tag team all the bad horrible bills that get crammed through the senate

I love Sarah, but they got the wrong Palin...

Draft Todd.....

He is the quiet strong thinking type, I think Alaska would vote for him to tell Washington in their own gentile and polite independent way...

Up Yours!

A Senate run at this point is beneath her.

Agreed. Unless she moves to S.C. and electrifyingly defeats Lynnzy Graham. (Please?)

Otherwise, I hope she is happy whatever she chooses to do. Even if she never seeks office again. She deserves good things.

Doesn’t she live in AZ ?

I’d like to see her run in a primary against McCain.

She would be an excellent asset in the Senate. She is already more prepared than about 80% of the self dealers there now. Whether she wants to lower herself is another question.

“A Senate run at this point is beneath her.”

I’m not convinced.

But Norm, she supported Romney, asked you to vote for him.

How can you support a person with no principles?

Yes, go watch the video one more time

And for the rest of you, yes, I'm tweaking Norm, and not Palin.

I think it's a great idea. The left would go PDS in spades and Soros et al would spend billions to defeat her. . in front of the whole USA. . plus the whole campaign would be thee news story. . to her benefit.

She will of course, Win Big, and then she can go to Washinton D.C. and start running for President six months after she arrives. We can play that game too.

The Obama Media Complex will continue to assail her to the point the whole nation will start saying, "Hey, wait a minute, back off, we like Sarah!"

A ground swell of support would tsunami across America and she will win by a landslide in November, 2016.

Go for it Sarah! Your Army is Ready!

A Senate run at this point is beneath her.

I do not see it that way. She can become a substantial voice for conservitism and can gain a national reputation beyond her current support.

"Do the words 'Senator Sarah Palin' excite you?"

I don't think the words 'Senator Sarah Palin' excite her. Non-starter and I have no doubt they know it. Just a fundraising gimmick.

She already has that. Going to the Senate would put her in a straitjacket at this point. Putting her in the Senate would make sense... AFTER she served as President (a la Andrew Johnson).
