Ted Cruz against the world: Senator’s feud w/McCain reveals arrogance-and continuing crackup of GOP

My son and I just returned from D.C. Being from Texas we asked Senator Cruz for Senate Gallery passes. When we picked up our passes, we had the honor of meeting Senator Cruz. As we were leaving, my son looked at the Senator and said two things:

1. Sir, you are doing a great job.
2. The senate needs more people like you.

I was floored. Here is an 18 year old that said that. But he is correct. Cruz is doing a great job and we do need more like him.

Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... One day after announcing on his radio show that he is "truly considering" running in 2014 for the U.S. Senate seat now held by New Jersey's Frank Lautenberg, Rivera amped up his message today in a television interview and a column on the Fox News Latino website... a moderate Republican who is fiscally conservative but also supports gay marriage and Roe v. Good for your boy! The pressures on freshman congressman and senators to go native are enormous. It never hurts to remind them who sent them to Washington even if you think they have the spine not to go native.

My sister and several of her college classmates worked their hearts out to get Orrin Hatch get elected to the U.S. Senate back in 1976. For his first two terms or so, he was the solid conservative firebrand whom they sent to Washington. After that, the record sort of speaks for itself.
