Flawed analysis. Imagine a farmer planting fields...that's a new party.
Imagine a farmer trying to plant fields while being harassed by someone who doesn't want him to plant for himself, but to work for him as a sharecropper, on his own land...
That's the Republican party. The Republican Party has become corrupt.
The RINOs are entrenched. Any changes made in the GOP would inevitably become corrupt.
If one takes a gallon of vanilla ice cream and a gallon of manure, and mix them together...will the result taste more like vanilla ice cream, or manure?
Not my druthers.
I'm mindful of the Bond Movie Goldfinger..."No, Mr. Bond, I don't expect you to talk! I expect you to die!"
The GOP can never be wrested from the grip of the professional politicians.
The only viable way a third-party will happen is from a mass defection...say the Texas GOP wants to break off from the National Party and start their own party, and then see which other politicians will defect to the new party.
Perot ran twice because his ego is the biggest part of him.
I've voted for every Republican candidate for president...even when I had to hold my nose. I decided awhile back that borders were the issue where I would draw the line. If you don't have enforceable and enforced borders, you don't have a country, and the game's up.
I flirted with Libertarianism for awhile, until I concluded they were the Not Ready for Prime Time Players, a mix of Randians and stoners, naïve all.
I believe it's impractical to declare a Culture War, when it's much more practical to not declare it...just knock out the underpinnings of the left.
Offer a strictly secular platform of ending handouts, shrinking government and increasing liberty. Do so and you've disarmed your opponent.
How do you intend to prove a negative?
I'll wait...
Yes.
And lose 47% off the top, sadly.
I think there's maybe some wiggle room on the 47% though. A lot of SS recipients, for example, are conservative.
Anyone who attempts to reverse it in one election cycle has a lot of factions to appease.
The untapped power is the 200 million or so citizens who simply don't participate in elections, more than the sum of both major sides currently voting.
That block needs to be persuaded to participate.
Thank you for the ping.
If we put our faith in God, first, we will come through this trying time.
As God’s people left Egypt, they spent 40 years in the desert (in desperation) because they did not trust in Him. We must trust, and follow through, to triumph in His name.
I’ve been saying this for quite a long time. Either the Republicans change their ways, or they will die like the Whigs.
Well, now I’m inclined to say that the GOP has gone way past the point where the Whigs died. The question is now not whether the Republicans need to be replaced, but whether the country has enough good people willing to WORK TOGETHER to replace them. Can we get the fiscal conservatives, the libertarians, the moral conservatives, the social conservatives, and so on—usually seen as at least three distinct groups—to work together?
I really don’t know. It would take someone as strong and reliable and resolutely principled as Sarah Palin to pull it all together, but I’m not sure if the media and the “conservative” Establishment will ever permit it. Or whether enough decent people remain who can see through the lies of the press and the GOPe, propping up the Democrat lies.
As I said last time around, I don’t see anyone but Sarah who is strong enough to pull us out of this mess. But people got distracted by Newt Gingrich—who talks a great game but has a lot of warts and betrayals at this point, and who stayed in just long enough to eliminate Rick Santorum who was running ahead of him and give it to Mitt Romney—who in turn promptly gave it back to Obama.
So, yes, I think the GOP is defunct. But that doesn’t mean it will go away, unless conservatives somehow can get together and back a really serious, capable, and totally reliable candidate. We need someone of the stature of Churchill or Lincoln (like him or not). Sarah’s the only one in sight. But we need to get together, and I’m not sure how that can be done. But it needs to be done before the GOPe once again uses its inside position to manipulate the primaries and eliminate anyone but their own chosen candidates.
What’s important to remember is that in 1992 when the polling showed Perot would win, he announced he was pulling out, then a few days later after the support went down, he got back in the race.
It looks like he was in it to help Clinton because he didn’t want to win, he just wanted to siphon off votes from Bush 41 who raised taxes breaking his promise.
Pretty easily - online research is your friend.
Sarah Palin can win.
A New American Party can be formed and be successful.
How?
Because Sarah Palin will be able to get 6 to eight million conservative voters to return to the polls, in all states and all regions.
These fresh voters plus the millions of disaffected voters from both parties can lead to conservative victories in the Senate and House and in State races.

Why would a Libertarian be for gun control, or do I misunderstand what a Libertarian is?
Oh, I’m not despairing. Basically my point was, that 4 or 8 years ago, the question was whether it was time to start a new SECOND party—not a third party in the usual sense—because the GOP was dying.
Well, now I think it’s dead. I won’t say that a new second party is the ONLY solution, because you never can rule anything out completely. But it’s up to about 99%, IMHO.
And you can’t start a real SECOND party without a really great leader and sufficient backing—as was the case with Lincoln.
Sarah’s the only one I see out there. But a lot of conservatives, even Freepers, have been too ready to accept what the press has said about here—even though almost all Freepers agree that the press can never be trusted.
I’m not in a position to lead the way, but I’ll certainly back her if people wake up, and she is willing to serve.
‘you cant start a real SECOND party without a really great leader and sufficient backingas was the case with Lincoln.’
From my humble success in life, I have drawn the conclusion that if one has a really good idea, then the money will come.
The money is not the problem, the good idea is the challenge.
And I think Sarah Palin with a New American Party is a great leader with the principles that will generate sufficient backing.

I believe she would win. There is an enormous amount of ill will toward the ruling class. It has reached revolutionary proportions. Sarah has the charismatic ability and the principles to capture the imagination of a substantial portion of the populas.
