Indeed. After Pearl Harbor, we did not go into a defensive mode and try to protect ourselves through enhanced security. Instead, we reached out and showed the world that it is a very, very bad idea to attack America.
We should have done that on 9/12. Should have taken out a few cities that were already on a list of “nice to eliminate” and then we should have announced that our second list of cities included Mecca and Medina and that further attacks by terrorists would be a very, very, very bad idea.
We have tried very hard to be the most powerful nation on earth. And we are. But we are afraid of ourselves and we no longer seem to have the guts to act like what we are. You want security? We spend $500B a year on “security”. But it won’t help unless we use it in the way it was intended — and “nation building” is not what it was intended to do.
We’ve been fighting a war for over 10 years and what do we have to show for it? Loss of our own freedom, and not much more. The guys living in caves seem to have won.
Not JUST put Mecca and Medina on the Tier 2 target list, but promise the dirtiest possible bombs, that the entire AREA will be lethal for decades to come. . .
My tier 1 target would have been ONE bomb.
Medium-large nuke, dropped into the water about a mile behind the Aswan High Dam. Let a boiling, radioactive flood scour the entire Nile Valley clean. And then remind them that was ONE, MEDIUM bomb. And just smile. . .
Agreed. “Shock & Awe” should have been “Nuke & Destroy.” Turn that sand into a sheet of glass and there won’t be any caves or anything else.
