Several times a day, especially if hes out travelin and talkin to folks, as he always is when the U.S. Senate isnt in session, Ted Cruz will stand before an audience and reflect, seemingly for the first time, about the generational shift taking place in the Republican party.
I call them the Children of Reagan, he says. He means the rising group of Republican officeholders who came to political consciousness during President Reagans two terms. He rattles off their names: young leaders like Paul Ryan, Rand Paul, Nikki Haley, Mike Lee, Scott Walker . . . and then sometimes hell pause, letting you wonder if hes leaving out any of the Childrens names. Sometimes a helpful fan in the audience will volunteer it, to general appreciation from the crowd.
Among that tiny fraction of Americans who are paying attention to such things, Cruz seems to be the only person who is forgetting Ted Cruzs name.
Americans who worry about democracy need to keep on this guy, warned a reporter for the New Republic back in February. And no wonder! Skim the tweets or scan the blogs or, if youre older than one of Reagans Children, read the actual newspapers, and youll soon discover that Ted Cruz is far more than the freshman senator from Texas, only eight months in office. He is also the scary McCarthyite Taliban bully and bomb-thrower known for his extremism and his arrogant and nihilistic disregard of facts.
When you follow him around, howeverfor he is in constant motion, from Iowa to New Hampshire to every corner of Texasthis nasty fellow youve been reading about, the caricature Cruz, never appears. If Ted Cruz didnt exist, professional Democrats and the mainstreamers in the Washington press corps would have to invent him....

Cruz for president.
His “we need 100 Jesse Helms” caused their libtard brains to explode in fury and disbelief.
Who has the Cruz ping list? This excellent article definitely needs a ping.
We need 435 Mark Levins in the House, another 100 in the Senate and yet another in the White House. Fat chance after decades of liberal media and public education. Our late American culture has long since died.
My wife and I already have our Cruz 2016 bumper stickers on our vehicles. Bob

Ted Cruz Ping!
This is the most interesting article I’ve read about Cruz so far. Cruz strikes me as very Reaganesque. A big ideas guy, and a smart one. A natural performer (in a good way) with a genius for getting his point across. An obsessively hard worker. I get the impression that he might have some of the paradoxical remoteness that I’ve read Reagan had.
Bump-bump-bumparoonie.
I love the way he drives them crazy. That’s one of the things s we love about Sarah, for example. (Rand Paul is another.) The ability to make liberals foam at the mouth is a great thing.
Ted Cruz scares the scumbag Democrats because he is fearless. The rats and their “mainstream” newsrooms hate Cruz because he as absolutely no fear of them. It is 2013 now, talk radio and the internet rule, and the scumbags can no longer get away with their shameless lying.
I'll second that.
Small government has been in Cruz's philosophical blood from high school on. That's important and sets him apart. Ted also seems to have been sidelined by Bush's 2000 campaign for his outspokenness, resulting in two years in the wilderness. So he has backbone and doesn't take the politician's easy way out: a good sign. He shook the money tree as a Houston lawyer after years as FTC counsel and Texas solicitor-general. This sounds like revolving door. I would like to learn more about this.
I so much want to believe in Ted. There are few, if any conservative alternatives on the federal level.
From one Reagan baby, THANK YOU, SARAH!!! We certainly needed a Cruz Able to find any more?
Thanks, Sen Ted. Drive em crazy
Thanks for the ping.
The article at the link is very interesting but very long with a lot of Cruz history.
And here’s a bump!
