Lindsey Grahams reportedly polling under 50 percent in South Carolina and now heres Maverick wondering aloud if this is his last rodeo in the Senate. Without the two of them around, who will speak for the dubious pro-democracy Sunni insurgents of tomorrow?
At long last, the day of rejoicing is at hand. Or is it?
[At this point two supporters of President Obama cut in to thank McCain for being on "our president's side for once in your life." McCain tells them, "The president and I, he's in his last term, I'm probably in mine, the relationship we have had over the past three years is quite good. Quite good."]
Is this really your last term?
Nah, I dont know. I was trying to make a point. I have to decide in about two years so I dont have to make a decision. I dont want to be one of these old guys that shouldve shoved off.
What he decides will depend, I think, on whether the GOP spends the next two years trending towards Rand Pauls version of a modest foreign policy. Incumbents often retire if it looks like their party, or their views within the party, are headed for a long spell in the wilderness. Maybe Maverick doesnt want the aggravation of battling, and losing to, isolationists on the Senate floor. With McCain, though, I think hed consider it his duty to stay and fight for interventionism, especially if the odds of Paul winning the nomination increase. Hed probably relish the opportunity to lead a band of hawks against the new semi-isolationist establishment, especially if President Rand is at the head of it....

It’s time. I will always honor McCain the Veteran for his military service and the hell he went through as a POW, but it is long past time for McCain the Politician to go into retirement.
He will merely return to space to gather power, returning once a century to attempt to destroy humanity.
Don’t waste time Johnny, those fish are biting right now, you might not make it to 2016. None of can foresee God’s plan. And besides if you retire this year just think of the Christmas present you will be giving to Conservatives.
he’ll probably go into journalism upon retiring. maybe even replacing the TIme Editor who just quit to go to work at Obama’s Just Us Department....
Hinting?
If he runs again I will flipping move to AZ and do everything in my power to rid him (election wise) from the face of America.......
he is now as he has always been a collaborator.
Why?
McCain is a collaborator today and yesterday.
He’ll do what most former members do and become a lobbyist and continue screwing America without the media looking over his shoulder.
He needs to retire while he still has a modicum of hero left in him. He’s looking more like Megan everyday.
AMEN!
I think it’s very unlikely that McCain is NOT involved in the Bengazi matter.
Maybe Miss Lindsay also..?
Please. Go now.
Of course he is and his little dog too.
McLame should have done us all a favor and retired in 2010. He ain’t done anything worth jack squat since.
I wish he had that thought 12 years ago.
LOL. McCain is Apocalypse?
It’s long past time he went away. He is the poster child for term limits. When the Old Guard Republicans nominated him for president, everybody knew that it guaranteed Obama’s win. He was too old, too sick, and too liberal. Even Sarah Palin, with all her youth, energy and charisma, couldn’t drag his tired old carcass across the finish line.
Expect even worse Rinoism if during his remaining time if he is retiring.
John McCain will NOT be missed.
I thank him for his service, but I’m not sure he was EVER a good Senator. He certainly is NOT now.
