Dear Ms. xxxx:
Thank you for contacting me regarding the Continuing Resolution (CR) and defunding of Obamacare. I know how passionately Texans feel about this issue, and I appreciate the benefit of your comments. All Americans should be exempt from the onerous and costly provisions of Obamacare and the best way to do this is to repeal and defund the law in its entirety.
Texans continue to share with me real-life examples of how this law is hurting businesses, killing jobs, and burdening individuals with costlier premiums. All Americans should receive relief from this law, so I was pleased when the House of Representatives chose to listen to the American people and sent the Senate a CR that funded the government and defunded Obamacare.
Because of procedural rules in the Senate, the only way for Senators to vote yes or no on defunding Obamacare was to vote for cloture, thereby allowing a simple majority vote to defund Obamacare. Only five Senate Democrats were needed to defund Obamacare. However, Democrats continued to ignore the pleas of the American people and stripped the language that defunded Obamacare. I joined with all Republicans to vote against the final Senate CR that included funding for Obamacare.
House Republicans continued to send reasonable packages to the Senate that would have funded the government but provided relief for Americans from this law, including bills that would have delayed Obamacare for a year, permanently repealed the Medical Device Tax, delayed Obamacares individual mandate, and required that Congressional members and staff live under the same rules as the American people. Senate Democrats rejected these reasonable compromises.
On Tuesday, October 1, 2013, the U.S. government funding authority expired, resulting in a government shutdown. Unfortunately, this shutdown did not prevent the implementation of Obamacare and the health care exchanges opened as scheduled.
At every opportunity to defund or repeal the law, I have voted in favor of doing so, and I will not waver in my opposition to this law. To read further about my efforts, please visit my website at: http://www.cornyn.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=senator-cornyn-record-on-obamacare
I appreciate having the opportunity to represent Texas in the United States Senate. Thank you for taking the time to contact me.
Sincerely,
JOHN CORNYN
United States Senator
Crapweasel.
You say “Forced copulation upon you, your equine conveyance, and the flies following the stench of your fundament” is one option.
I received the same letter. I told him I would vote against him in the primary and if he is in the General Election I would vote Democrat. Whatever it takes to get him out of office, because clearly he has been there too long.
Wimpy did the same thing that linda Graham did. Voted FOR cloture, then against the bill, then crowed how he voted to defund nobamacare. Lying wimp!
Cornyn, Cornyn, Cornyn, hmmmmmm.
Is that the guy that works for America’s Senator Ted Cruz?
Well, let me know because I received the exact same letter! It got me thinking because I wrote to Cornyn before the cloture vote and wrote him afterward telling him that I held him responsible for voting that way.
“Because he is a coward. He talks tough when he does not have to stand behind his words, but hides in the shadows awaiting the outcome when he is called to task. Honestly, this is what we get when we have professional politicians.”
Ding, ding, ding!! No more calls. we have a winner!!!
You are such an uppity serf.
I have to say at least his response was on subject. I’ve written him three times in the past. Two responses had nothing to do with the subject of my letter. The third got no response at all.
BTTT!
_____________
I got the same form letter. I quoted that line he wrote about “having” to vote for cloture and reminded him I had told him if he voted for cloture he would lose his next primary and I was seldom wrong about elections. I said I could no longer support him and I had since the first time he ran for the senate. (I sent him money for his campaigns.) I asked him to remove my name from his contact list. (I have received a Christmas Card every year he has been there - I guess my Christmas Cards will end.)
Responding to a rape after the fact will not make you a virgin again. What is the point of talking to him after th vote is over?
Save the postage for the person challenging him...
Just his generic “I’m a conservative” BS message for this week. Got same exact thing in email.
I got the exact same one a few hours ago. Word-for-word. Definitely did not respond very well to my originating letter
I received the same identical letter. Just toooooo funny. I told him Texans had only just begun being passionate and that he would best not renew his lease in DC next year because he was going to be retired to the farm.
He will not go quietly - he’s number 2 among Republican Senators now. If he can figure out some way to get rid of McConnell he’ll be top dog. McConnell and Cornyn both need to go.
That is correct, there was no reason for Corynyn to vote with Reid on ending cloture.
I got the same reply. It is apparently a form letter.
