McConnell smacks down tea party groups: They mislead for profit
MSNBC's Morning Joe ^ | November 8, 2013 | Jane C. Timm

Sen. Mitch McConnell is done playing nice.

McConnell smacked down the tea party in an interview with Wall Street Journal opinion writer Peggy Noonan published Thursday evening.

The Tea Party is made up of people who are “angry and upset at government,” the Senate minority leader said, but they’ve been mislead by their leaders.

“They’ve been told the reason we can’t get to better outcomes than we’ve gotten is not because the Democrats control the Senate and the White House but because Republicans have been insufficiently feisty. Well, that’s just not true, and I think that the folks that I have difficulty with are the leaders of some of these groups who basically mislead them for profit,” he said.

When the tea party helped Sen. Rand Paul defeat a McConnell-approved candidate in a Kentucky Republican primary in 2010, McConnell made nice with the Senate’s tea party wing and looked to shore up his right flank, hiring a Paul-family friend, Jesse Benton, to run his re-election campaign. A tea partier challenged him from the right, but McConnell leads in polls by a 47 points.

Then the shutdown hit and all bets were off—McConnell quickly became a target when he brokered a deal with Democrats to reopen the federal government without taking down Obamacare....

“The Tea Party is made up of people who are “angry and upset at government,”

He’s just worried they’ll expose him for what he truly is and not get reelected. YES, the Tea Party is a real threat to all those who do not follow our Constitution & Bill Of Rights to the letter.

We know who these anti Americans are and we’ll be watching them and acting appropriately when the time is right!

If the Tea Party declares McConnell is the enemy, a person can expect McConnell to hit back.

Good to know that the Tea Party “misleads for profit”.

I haven’t gotten my share of the take yet, who should I ask about this?

It seems he has always been a snake out for his own. I hope he gets trampled in the turf. I’m going for “at a loss for words” before I post and run.

I do as well as possible buying "made in the USA" or Canada. I'll by things made in Mexico as a plan B, as I'd rather have Mexicans staying in their homeland than getting jobs here. If something is part of a culture or a national specialty, that's okay. For instance, silk and tea from China are okay.

It's better than it used to be. Technology and appliances/metal goods, no. Everything else, there are most often alternatives to avoid cheap labor markets. The thing is the USA merchandise isn't more expensive.

A big problem is the younger market. Nobody studies real economics anymore. Even those that study business don't always know economics, budgeting, local markets. Most don't seem to understand the connection between what they purchase and their futures. The global and national economies would have to collapse for things to turn in a good direction....that's been what I've come to believe during the past few years.

Watch out for those Party dudes. They play for keeps. I remember.

In the words of Nelson Rockefeller's public relations head, Stuart Spencer, "We had to destroy Barry Goldwater as a member of the human race."

Palin, Cruz, the Tea Party.. we are all Goldwaters now.

"There will need to be a revolution but not necessarily one with physical armies like 1776. It will need to be a gospel revolution."

I just don't know how to express strong enough how I believe HiTech RedNeck is absolutely correct!

Our nation has come to the point where is it will be impossible to elect a conservative government. The moochers now out-number the producers and the elite are too powerful, even controlling the media so that even most of the "conservative leaning" people and all of the sheeple never hear the truth. The Constitution (basis of our entire government system) is being trampled upon. The President can outright lie and not fear impeachment. And being realistic, if we were to fight with guns it is doubtful we could win and even if we did, at what cost would that be? Our numbers would be devastated and the moochers would still exist afterwards.

As pessimistic as all that may sound, I still have great hope and faith that there is a way out of this mess. The way out is deeply rooted in historical presidence (read the Old Testament). America became a great nation against all odds because of faith in an Almighty God and because our government's philosophy was based on this faith and the teachings of Christianity. How can we expect God to allow America to continue when we, as a nation and as a people, turn away from him?

So again I repeat what HiTech RedNeck said so elegantly..... "It will need to be a gospel revolution."

This is hilarious coming from this guy. He recently got a nice little chunk of change for “making a deal” with the democrats. He is in bed with big business, at the expense of the average people and main street.

The only good thing about the extremely polarizing Obastard Presidency is that it is pulling the slimy RINOs out of the high grass and out into the open. Even here on Free Republic that is happening too.

...but they’ve been mislead by their leaders

Actually the leader who is misleading his constituents is you, Mitch.

Let me explain something to you Mitch. Something that you have totally failed to understand, because you're so cozy in bed with the far left democrats. Tea party leaders are just organizers in a people movement. They do not set the tone of the movement, the people do that. They voice the people's frustrations and aspirations, and take the time to do the leg work to organize and unite.

A top-down, big government liberal like you will have a hard time understanding this movement. Conservative leaning people are not sheep, meekly following whatever some leader says.

The amusing part about this is subtle. McConnell knows hierarchical organizations up and down; but that’s all he knows. The Tea Party is not a hierarchical organization, and it has all the political players befuddled for one simple reason: hierarchical organizations have no way to interface with non-hierarchical organizations.

Non-hierarchical organizations have no real leaders, just individuals whose ideas others agree with, so support on an *ad hoc* basis. So there is no “Tea Party leader” they can tear down, subvert, corrupt, undermine, or make a deal with.

This must be terribly frustrating for McConnell, made more so because while non-hierarchical organizations don’t look like they could work, they do. He might raise a billion dollars to save his pasty white buttocks, and it wouldn’t matter one bit.

Some Tea Party person sends an email to some of his friends, and it propagates, and is a hundred times more effective than all the TV and radio spots McConnell could buy.

The distinction between the Demmunist Party elites and the RINO elites is becoming increasingly more difficult to discern.
In fact I'm not sure anymore that there is a difference.

Not sure, but no doubt these RINO/DimLite’s have been promised some sort of funding to keep the progressive plan moving. They wouldn’t be fighting the Tea Party harder than their *opposition*, if they weren’t.

Heck, in the last presidential election, the GOP picked nominee fought other Republicans lightyears harder than he fought Obama.
Pretty much said it all with that: The GOP-e is in cahoots with the DNC.
