This is Bernie ‘homo marriage’ Goldberg. He knows nothing about conservatism.

The fact is, the majority of Republican voters out there are closer to Cruz on policy than they are to Krispy Kreme. Goldberg is in a minority of very wealthy hacks who never fail to lose, and have an overinflated opinion of themselves.

We failed to be rigid in 2008 and 2012. It ended in disaster because nobody turned out. If you don’t argue for conservatism, what’s the point?

The mere sight of Bruce Springsteen brings Crispy to tears. He's an emotional butterball.

The machine will rip him to shreds.

I can’t see any republican candidate who will be acceptable to all factions of the GOP. RINO’s like Christy will be rejected by the hard right, and very conservative candidates like Ted Cruz will be rejected by moderates and independents. Many republicans will stay home on election day and facilitate coronation of Hillary, just like Obama was helped in 2012.

There is no Ronald Reagan type available in 2016 to unite and inspire all factions. I think Hillary wins going away in 2016. ANother 8 years to endure of more degradation of the American way of life, more multiculturalism, more free stuff for the lazy, topped off by Hillarycare version of Obamacare.

It won't matter. I refuse to vote for Christie. I also refuse to vote for any Bush that runs for office, along with any GOP-E candidate.

Give me Tea Party or give me Death.

I live in Illinois (though I’m hoping to retire in 2016 and move the hell out of here), and there is no chance in hell of a Republican carrying this state in 2016, no matter who the Dims run. So, it makes no difference who I vote for, because the Dim will carry Illinois, and its electoral votes.

The last time a Republican carried Illinois was 1988 (25 years ago).

I’ve come to the conclusion that Christie is not in it for the presidency per se. I mean if he takes off and becomes the nominee he’ll be okay with that. But if he’s lagging, or being dogged and laden by concerted innuendo, he’ll just as gladly bow out for a cabinet level position.

If there is a cosmic sense of humor, he would be selected for HHS.

Bush wasn't squishy?

I pass on the Bush admiration.. Nice guy but no conservative

In other words, he was squishy...and he won. Twice.

therefor what.... nominate the squishy guy

Look at who he beat Gore and Kerry .. Even a few of the genuinly stupid recognize what morons those guys were.

Personally I don’t care who the republicans pick the entire party sucks and has betrayed the american people one to many times. If its statism we get then lets get if full blown and get this liberty thing over with. Under either establishment wing of the parties its inevitable.

He did have the luck of going up against the two stiffest candidates in modern history, did he not? And look how close it was against Vice President Gore. BTW, it was Ted Cruz that bailed him out in Florida, I’ve recently learned.

Much as I hate to admit it, he’s the likely nominee in ‘16. Still, that’s a long way away...things could change.

Don't lose hope.

Actually, they were both squishy, and I’d say that they went 2-1-1 (A photo finish is technically a win, but it just as easily could have been a loss) and both victories were courtesy of an environment that made them look conservative—being Reagan’s VP in the first instance and 911 in the second.

Moral of the story: a squishy looking guy who doesn’t look conservative may make it close after two terms of Democratic control—16 years previous to the last election.

If you have to compromise pretty well all of your values, the trophy ain’t worth it.

Christie can be beaten

Especially if the base stays home, which I certainly will if he is the nominee.
