Rep. Paul Ryan, a Republican from Wisconsin and former Republican vice presidential candidate, distanced himself from one of the most conservative leaders of his party and expressed reluctant support for one of its most embattled figures.

At the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Ryan took a swipe at Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, for not recognizing "reality" and, when pressed, expressed moderate support for Gov. Chris Christie, R-New Jersey.

The chairman of the House Budget Committee and potential presidential contender in 2016 made the comments in a one-on-one conversation with Texas Tribune editor-in-chief Evan Smith on Thursday.

‘I wish Chris the best’

Smith began the luncheon by referencing the scandal that has engulfed Christie, but as he started to ask Ryan for a comment, he was quickly cut off by a loud and abrupt “No!”(continued)

Obviously the word has gone out from Mount Boehner to attack the Tea Party at every opportunity.

I wonder if this buffoon actually thinks he still has a chance of winning the 2016 nomination?

The “reality” that Ryan refuses to accept is that Cruz is a fighter, and that he (Ryan) is an intellectual wimp and a traitor.

I don’t care who Ryan supports. He needs to look around and notice that no one is following him.

Ryan has already lost all credibility with the base. He’s clearly moved into the RINO camp with the rest of the compromising country club.

Christie is a non starter. If the GOP goes that direction they will have lost the election before it begins.......

Ryan was groomed politically by his mentors Bohener and Kemp to be a career RINO Spoiler. Look at his deeds as well as his sound bites. Nothing to him to support. Another paid for empty suit in congress sent there with a mission to stop Conservatism.

What the GOPES (gop elite snobs) don’t and won’t get. Is that todays followers in the; “Taxed Enough Already” movement the so called tea party, are the same “independents” and “Reagan Democrats” of the 80’s.

Mr.Ryan should look at the financial situation in New Jersey under fatso and then look at the finances in Texas.

Ryan’s budgets went nowhere. His approach failed and the House’s strategy from 2011 through the 2012 election was an historically giant failure. Obama should have been trounced but the House allowed Reid and the awhile House to destroy the republicans and somehow blame them for every ill. It was catastrophic. The most ineffective leadership in modern history.

Entrepreneur:" Ryan has already lost all credibility with the base. He’s clearly moved into the RINO camp
with the rest of the compromising country club.

Ryan has clearly moved in with the GOPe
and Democrats and has joined into the war against Conservatives principles.
He was elected while demonstrating Conservative financial and social values
and now sees a political future with the GOPe .
He has lost my continued support.

The article states that he also endorsed RINO John Cornyn; saying he’s a very good Senator. STFU Paul.
