Bill Kristol: Palin Would Be 'Formidable' Presidential Candidate
NewsMax ^ | February 6, 2014 | Wanda Carruthers

Former vice presidential candidate and Alaska Republican Gov. Sarah Palin would prove "formidable" in a 2016 run for president, Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol predicted Thursday.

"She's a huge political talent. She has a real populist streak, and a real feel for, sort of, middle America in a way that very few politicians do," Kristol told MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

"The truth is, she might be kind of formidable," he added.

Her biggest obstacle, Kristol maintained, would be explaining why she stepped down as Alaska's governor before serving her entire term.

Kristol advised the next Republican nominee to "spend some time talking to her," because she "has a feel for what people out there care about, and a way to formulate things, and she should be part of the conversation."

Kristol revealed a list of his nine top possible Republicans who could vie for the nation's top office. In light of New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie's troubles over the "bridge-gate" scandal, Kristol predicted the Republican establishment would instead rally behind former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

"Jeb Bush will be the establishment candidate," Kristol said. "I think [Chris] Christie's in trouble. I think Jeb is much more likely to run than people have thought. And he will have formidable establishment support."(continued)

maybe Hillary can get a similar opportunity to explain why she served for 8 years out of the 12 she was elected to serve. Is she a quitter?

Good point.

In NJ and Philly vernacular: JUST OOOHHHHH!!

I can see them bung heads just KISSIN those heels!

It’s why they HATE that girl this much!

SHE MAKES THEIR KNEES WEAK AND ......

Its a family forum, but I think you know where I’m going with this.

Bill Meyher wants, in the pit of his perverted stomach, TO SUCK THOSE TOES! (He is a little, deranged pervert.)

To me, Sarah Palin is a good, strong, wholesome woman who can stand up and deliver our nation from evil.

Sometimes, Queen Boudica is a needed entity.

Well, Bill, just imagine you are sued, PERSONALLY, for every single column you write that some opposition group doesn't like. Now the company for which you work has to spend money on administrative tasks pursuant to the lawsuits, but YOU have to pay the attorney fees. How long do you think you would stay in that position before you realized that in order to save your company money, and keep yourself out of bankruptcy, you would have to quit the job. I think you would quit just to stop the harassment.

THAT is what happened to Sarah Palin. As long as she was in that office, the lawsuits were going to continue to be filed, and the people in her office were going to have to spend their time working on filings, and gathering information for the plaintiff's attorney's, rather than spend time on the business of the state of Alaska. Sarah knew what they were trying to do, and if it hadn't been so wasteful to the state, and financially destructive to her family, she might have fought longer, but she finally decided to give in. And it became clear it was only a political hatchet job, because the lawsuits stopped when she left office. It wasn't the JOB she was doing they wanted to stop, they wanted to ruin HER, personally.

What they didn't count on was Sarah's making herself a name on the national stage APART from politics, and that has really frosted their a$$es!

Please make certain you never miss a Palin thread to express your dislike of Palin. We don’t care, but you want us to. It wouldn’t seem right without you making it known that you don’t like her. Yet, we don’t care.

Wow I didn’t realize that, until right now.

Way to support Palin early.

Way to go Kristol.

The explanation’s easy. The oath of office is not a suicide pact.

“Formidable establishment support” you say? I say bring it on; we’ll see who’s left standing - GOPe or We the People.

That Dodge Charger commercial with ‘George Washington’ in it comes to mind.

She explained quite well why she stepped down - I was listening, but apparently Kristol missed it.

The video of her resignation speech would be played 24/7 by the media and the democrats. And Palin looked pretty bad in that speech

The media has trashed Palin for so long it has become background noise. All Palin needs to do is what Reagan did which is appeal directly to the people and not take the media seriously.

Kristol has described her as “shrewd”.

"Shrewd" is an excellent quality in a Chief Executive.

No more f’n Bushes.

I would love to see Sarah run. If for no other reason than to bring the primaries back to the right.

If asked about why she stepped down as Governor, ask why Hillary gave up her Senate seat. Or, just say, in the nicest possible way...FU Lamestream!

He certainly gave impression years ago to be a Palin supporter, but dumped her when the going got tough.

I no longer trust the man since he repeatedly trashed Sarah, and now he is a regular on Morning Joe I understand

He is garbage and so is Morning Joe

But I love Sarah

You are dead on and Kristol is a loser, not to be trusted.

Sad also that The Weekly Standard is a joke as well

Palin has already explained it quite well. It's just that some people haven't listened.

I’ve been one of her biggest fans, until very, very recently. You don’t know me, nor what motivates me, and I’m not likely to explain it to you because I don’t think you can handle hearing it.

I let Palin threads go by all the time without comment.

You don’t care? Kewl by me. But why did you answer my post?

I know one that thinks he's "shrewd." Like that?
