It’s only good for the unions and it will cause the cost of government to go up. Let me be clear: The increase in union wages will cause government union workers costs to go up. With those increases, there will be a call for higher taxes.
One more thing: When union wages go up, more money will pour into the union political war chests through increased dues. That money will flood into Marxist Democrat political campaigns. If this money becomes available as a consequence of minimum wage increases, any chance of taking the Senate and the Presidency will be wishful thinking.

if the dems would get behind universally voiding the clause in various union contracts around the country that states employee salary is tied to percentage increase on minimum wage... then they’d be taken more seriously

A “fair wage” is when you pay someone according to value they create. An unfair wage is when you pay the most productive worker less in order to pay the least productive worker more.

Joe, let the free market decide what the fair wage will be. Let the corporations and workers work a deal based on competition in a free enterprise market. Forcing people to join unions or employers to pay minimum wages is letting the government interfere with this process.
BTW. If it were a free market and I was hiring a vice-president, I certainly wouldn’t pay you what you’re making now. In fact, I wouldn’t even hire you at any wage. I would want the best candidate at the best wage I could find. I would not want the government to restrict who I hire and what wage we agree is fair.

Let’s put “fair wages” in the realm of a diner and two waitresses, named Ruth and Lashan-dumpeer.
They both have a job. They both have their own ‘way’ of doing that job.
Ruth makes sure you have a full cup of coffee, or at least sees when you might need a refill, if you are a long puller, instead of a gulper. She knows how to get the tips.
Lashan-dumpeer is the attitude-heavy, gum-smacking ‘yeah, whaddyawant’ type. She does what is required, and her friends and relatives that come to eat, are the ones giving her tips.
Now, comes the day, when the owner of the diner puts on the new menu, “Gratuities fee 2% affixed to final price total on receipt. No tipping the waittresses.”
Sounds fair, right? Ruth gets the shaft, and Lashan-dumpee gets more tip money, in the long run. You think? Now, the boss can see which waittress is selling the food more, to get a higher 2% of the take, at the week’s end!
End note: Lashan-dumpee was fired for not selling enough food! Her attitude did not change in all of the new week’s workings. She thought that she had it made, now, going from maybe 1%, to a more positive, all the time 2%, and that “she earned that”.
