Send In Bill Clinton to Save the Democratic Midterm Campaign
The Daily Beast ^ | April 14, 2014 | Bob Shrum

Months away from Election Day, the Democrats are already cutting and running away from Obamacare. Clinton is the man to help them embrace it, attack obsessed Republicans—and win.

Let Bill do it.

With Democrats facing a daunting midterm season, it’s time to bring in the Big Dawg, not just as a campaigner but as a strategic driving force with the resources to deploy and dominate the message wars from coast to coast. Put him in charge of one of the existing super PACs—which would instantly multiply its fundraising—or form a new one that can operate on a genuinely super scale, with a pervasive reach. Let the Republicans have Karl Rove and Sheldon Adelson, the gambling mogul who in 2012 seemed to have all the electoral magic of a muggle. They, and the Koch brothers, would prove no match in messaging for Bill Clinton—and he’s the best chance to come close to matching them financially by attracting money beyond the Obama true believers among the big givers and the grass roots.

Why Clinton?

First, he has the right instinct about a year in which a platoon of Democrats appear to think—it’s not really thinking but reflex desperation—that they can run by hiding from health-care reform....

With the exception of saving Obama’s hide in 2012, he’s got a terrible track record with endorsements and campaigning. There simply aren’t enough motivated voters on that side to make a difference.

News I’m hearing (second hand) from people with inside info on the Democratic campaigns is of a state of total desperation.
The internal polls are horrible, apparently. The last few messaging trials have yielded zip. Turnout forecasts are also terrible.
Yes, maybe they will send Bill out to do battle. They might as well.
Interesting about the emotional aspect of the desperation, also commented on by the insiders. Republicans have faced bad polls and poor prospects (2006, say or 2008) without getting so worked up about the prospect of defeat.

The only card they have to play is the race card. That’s why you’re hearing “WACISM!” out of everyone in the Dem Camp. The only way to oppose that is to point out that Dems were formed by slaveholders, that 400,000 Republicans freed the slaves, that Dems kept blacks in de-facto slavery another hundred years, and now want to destroy the black family with welfare and kill black babies with abortion.

Billyboy has been effective in the past in rallying black voters to turn out. Other demographics, since he left office, not so much. 'Rats will need more than a few extra blacks this year.

There’s no hero 1/2 black BO on the ballot so they will stay home. I wonder what the black community thinks of Michele Obama? There’s no way they could relate to her.

The clinton economic recovery came about in spite of clinton. Obama proved that.
