Rand Paul Still 'Offensive' to Hispanics After Supporting Work Visas for Illegals

In what could be a sign that Republicans cannot simply win over Hispanics by being Democrat-lite on immigration issues, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) received no love from Hispanic leaders a day after he made a left turn on immigration policy and called for work visas for illegal immigrants.

Some even found him to be "offensive."

Paul made his comments in support of amnesty on Tuesday, at the University of Chicago's Institute of Politics, to David Axelrod, the former top adviser to President Barack Obama who is now the Institute's director.

On Wednesday, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, before Paul spoke at a Hispanics for School Choice event at St. Anthony's, Wisconsin State Rep. JoCasta Zamarripa, a Democrat of Hispanic descent, blasted Paul for using "incredibly cruel rhetoric when discussing those most affected by our country's broken immigration system."

"As an alumna of St. Anthony's I am disappointed that Senator Paul was invited to speak at a roundtable discussion today," Zamarripa said. "I hope community members use Senator Paul's visit as an opportunity to educate themselves on his radical viewpoints on so many legislative issues, especially immigration reform."(continued)

He’ll keep feeding the crocodile until it takes his hand off, though.

They are coming from cultures that embrace large authoritarian/cronyism governments. Which party will they vote for?

Also, I bet the guy quoted by the paper is a registered democrat.

“Some even found him to be ‘offensive’.”

Shaking hands with Axeljob, then being introduced to a roomful of Democrats and beginning his prepared remarks with,
“OK, who do I gotta blow here?”
was probably an unfortunate salutation.

Good, hope he doesn’t learn.

Only the Dims can effectively pander. Many (not most) hispanics could be won over with a true conservative message but we cannot pander as well as the dims.

http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/news/151020945.html Milwaukee County Supervisor Peggy Romo West had another geographic oops moment Thursday, when she mistakenly described Cook County, Illinois, as Milwaukee County's "neighbor to the north." "I definitely know it's south," she said. "Me and my directions; we just don't get along."

Hispanic “leaders” are all Democrat politicians. What else do you expect them to say? Anyone who would ever vote for a Republican isn’t going to listen to them.

I just don’t understand this infantile obsession politicians who call themselves ‘conservative’ have in trying to appease Hispanics in order to get their votes.

It reminds me of the South Park episode with Towely the dope smoker and a video game “Chasing the Dragon”.....you get high, you chase the dragon, but you never catch him.

Paul can equivocate, wheedle and dissemble all he wants, but neither he nor the Republicans will make a dent in the vote breakdown re: Hispanics. At least insofar as to whatever swing might happen would offset the significant desertion by real conservatives. All he has to do is keep it up, and his chances of getting conservatives to push him over the top will be nil.
