Joe Scarborough: Draft Mitt Romney in 2016!
Breitbart's Big Government ^ | June 14, 2014 | Tony Lee

Joe Scarborough, the MSNBC host who has transformed into one of his generation's most preeminent Rockefeller Republicans, believes Mitt Romney should run for president again in 2016.

Speaking to about 300 guests at "a luxury resort in the Rocky Mountains" with other potential GOP presidential hopefuls like Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), Scarborough reportedly urged the establishment donors and insiders to being a “Draft Romney” movement.

“This is the only person that can fill the stage,” Scarborough said at a summit hosted by Romney, according to a Washington Post report.

Scarborough and other attendees may not have realized that House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) was ousted last week because he was seen as emblematic of an ossifying Republican Party that favored cronyism over free markets...

“I think the old standby definitions of who votes for which party have been blown away in this campaign. I think people recognize that I’m not a partisan Republican—that I’m someone who is moderate, and that my views are progressive.”
-Mitt Romney (2002)

Romney in 2016 would be the Republican equivalent of William Jennings Bryan, or perhaps Harold Stassen.

The GOP (badly) needs to wake up.

The last two elections, have run one liberal against one moderate.

In 2008 at least, we had Palin on the ticket.

We need to finally, after losing the last two elections, come to the unavoidable decision, that we need to run someone CONSERVATIVE.

This means American jobs.

And no “moderation”.

Stop playing the democrat game. We need to win.

How many more times is the GOP going to give away the presidency?

How many times will the Washington Generals lose to the Harlem Globetrotters? Same answer...

Thank you.

Look, Romney seems to be a decent enough man. Not the sort of guy you’d enjoy a beer or 6 with, but he’d be a fun and witty dinner guest and the sort of boss that tells you to go home on your kid’s birthdays.

Doesn’t make him presidential material. He had his shot, and missed - for whatever reason, but I think you nailed it. He simply didn’t really want the job. That is why he didn’t get down and dirty during the last debate and was tepid during the second one, after a barnstorming start to the debate season.

It was hard to find someone able to get fewer votes than McCain, but somehow the Republicans were able to find him. I bet after another try he could drive his vote count down even more.

And then the Pollyanna Republicans can come on FreeRepublic and blame the conservatives for the GOP loss. Again. Lather, rinse, repeat. An endless cycle of misplaced blame.

I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t run. All the signs seem to be there, and it’s more than a poor idea. It would guarantee a win for the Democrats, and I’m worried that our country won’t survive much more of this.

next week’s Republican National Convention platform could include calls for the “Human Life Amendment,” which would outlaw abortion in all circumstances, even in cases of rape or incest. RNC Chairman Reince Priebus discusses.

Republicans are gathered this week in Tampa to draft official platform language, and potential language calling for the adoption of a constitutional amendment to curb abortion rights has drawn newfound scrutiny.

The RNC’s platform committee is set to vote Tuesday evening on draft language related to abortion, which calls for “a human life amendment to the Constitution,” along with “legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children.”

Priebus said on MSNBC. “This is the platform of the Republican Party; it’s not the platform of Mitt Romney.”

I believe this may be what Palin is waiting to see, during the next election (in 2016, not 2014).

I believe if Romney runs again, Palin will leave the GOP and run a full-fledged mutiny against the GOP.

I will support her completely in this, as will many I believe.

Romney had his chance. He had a perfect chance, and he LOST.

No more runs for Romney. Go away Romney.
