Top Jeb Bush adviser Mike Murphy, who did not even pay attention to Dave Brat's campaign like Breitbart News did, has falsely been claiming that Cantor's embrace of amnesty for illegal immigrants was not the reason he lost last Tuesday.
Liberal writer Mickey Kaus had enough of Murphy's nonsense and slammed him on Twitter on Friday evening. Kaus became Brat's de facto press secretary and top advocate on Twitter in the last months of the campaign because Kaus, like Brat, opposes amnesty for illegal immigrants because it would hurt American workers. He mentioned to Murphy that talk radio host Laura Ingraham turned out 600 people at a midweek rally that was "all about amnesty." Even Mort Zuckerman and Eleanor Clift have said there is "no doubt" that Cantor lost his race because of the amnesty/illegal immigration issue.
Breitbart News reporter Michael Patrick Leahy covered that event in which Brat and Ingraham blasted Cantor for his embrace of amnesty. Contrary to what Murphy believes or perhaps stereotypically thinks of voters in Virginia's seventh congressional district, people can listen to talk radio -- and Ingraham's show -- on the Internet. That's how Dodger fans, for instance, can listen to Vin Scully calling Dodger games on the radio and wishing listeners a "pleasant good evening" on the East Coast, even though east coast radio stations obviously do not carry Dodgers radio broadcasts....

If 12% of VA7 are anti-amnesty Brat gets all of them and wins.
Cantor lost because he didn’t spend enough money on his campaign. Yup.
Slammed him on twitter. Then it must be true. If you are 13 of course.
The stupid party.
...which is why you never hire a Bush advisor. They are democrats.
Which tells you exactly why he is Jeb's "top adviser."
Brat made it about Cantor's amnesty.
Cantor's amnesty mob missed their cue and stormed in chanting "what do want, immigration reform. when do we want it, now". Nice putsch Cantor.
It was about amnesty and nothing but amnesty. Amnesty LOST.
Get it through your thick heads. Stop lying
Top Jeb Bush Adviser: Cantor Didn’t Lose Because of Amnesty
You just keep right on telling yourself that, Jebbie...
Cantor lost because he didn’t buy his staff enough steaks.
Booshies = Shamnesty = Losers.
Like dems its all about the narrative. they try to say something enough times so people believe it.
Cantor lost because he had bad breath.
ANYONE who hires Mike Murphy, Schmitt or Nichole Wallace are LOSERS!!! These people’s “sell by” date has LONG since expired since they are all now DEMOCRATA~~ ANd that Mark McKinnon has ALWAYS been a Democrat!!
Another GOP elitist moneygrubbing political campaign consultant telling the candidate “must get Hispanic vote....”.....blah, blah, blah....
He might as well go ahead and hire Karl Rove. Besides, Rand Paul has that “get Hispanic voter schtick” all wrapped up.
Well not enough on the right Consultants.
Right Mr Murphy?
B/c no one believed that Constitutional fable, Cantor doubled down---he later offered a new explanation for why he supports granting amnesty to individuals brought into the country illegally as minors. It's Biblical, he said in a local radio interview.
That "revelation" offed the sucker but good. So much for Cantor's gulling the voters---endorsing a measure intended to dismantle US ntl security.
Cantor stupidly believed the rest of us just fell of turnip truck---that we know nothing about the Dream Act except what he makes up.
THE FACTS ARE THESE---The Senate amnesty bill is dangerously flawed, and its glaring omissions WRT protecting US ntl security, cannot ever serve as the basis for useful legislation.
By legalizing illegal aliens w/out shoring up law enforcement, we hand an engraved invitation to global Third Worlders----all of 'em salivating to ride the US gravy train.....each separatist group conniving to achieve its hidden agenda.
Amnesty recklessly opens the door wide for illiterate, low-skilled aliens, born and bred in savage cultures, here to suck up US benefits and take jobs away from Americans.
Third Worlders may, in fact, contribute their labor to the US, but their loyalties are elsewhere----they have no intention of becoming Americanized....of participating as equals in American culture, revering our vast history, or preserving American values.
The Senate amnesty bill is a blueprint----it amply demonstrates that illegal separatist populations intend to usurp the US political system to advance their own hidden agenda.
The Senate "Amnesty" bill includes two slush funds amounting to $150 MILLION annually, replenish-able with eternal tax dollars for years to come....... earmarked for groups like the blood-thirsty La Raza.
One of the Congressman voting for this outrage should be charged w/ conflict of interest: Cong Julian Castro's mother is a La Raza stalwart.
LA RAZA TEACHING HATE-AMERICA WITH OUR TAX DOLLARS La Raza Studies do not even try to sugar-coat its anti-America agenda and its bloodthirsty plans to kill off Americans: Raza Studies textbook Occupied America, by Rodolfo Acuña, includes a violent and blood-curdling speech given by university professor Jose Angel Gutierrez: We have got to eliminate the gringo, and what I mean by that is, if the worst comes to the worst, we have got to kill him, (pg. 323).
The following is taken directly from La Raza's Occupied America (pg. 167): .......execute all white males over age 16, (AKA the Plan of San Diego).
America-hating Raza Studies teach (1) violence, (2) undermining US ntl security, and, (3) the need for Mexico to "re-take seven states in the Southwest...in order to make the SW a Chicano nation. "
SCHOOL BOARD NUT CASES Adelita Grijalva is the woman on the Arizona school board pimping La Raza indoctrination programs in Tuscon schools. Adelita is all up in arms about Raza Studies getting tossed via the AZ state legislature's action...she is the daughter of Raul Grijalva (D-AZ-7).
Cong Raul Grijalva is one of Mexicos most productive and loyal Fifth Column in the US Congress....aiding and abetting the latino criminal underworld, colluding to take back the SW, and loot and pillage the US treasury.
Raul and friend.
Cantor and friend.
Actually, Brat’s POPULIST way of being anti-Amnesty was ingenious. I’ve been fighting it on the demographics - if we really let in what will become 30,000,000 (at least) illegals, we become a one-party state (Reps won’t have a chance in elections, unless they become virtual clones to Democrats...and in that case we still lose), and we also will likely have to make Spanish an official language of the country. But that takes several decades to fully play out...so who cares (LOL).
But the populist approach is MUCH BETTER, because it’s today. The moment you give them a Green Card they are competing against Americans, for American jobs. Give out millions of them virtually all at once - all hell will break loose. And NO ONE can make a racism claim against this approach with credibility - it could be 30M Japanese, or Brits, and the result would be the same.
It was BRILLIANT and hopefully some of the other REPUBLICANS can learn from this.
“ANd that Mark McKinnon has ALWAYS been a Democrat!”
I’m not familiar with the other two but I am with McKinnon and it was INSANE to ever let that guy near a Republican candidate. Just look at his picture on Wikipedia and you’ll INSTANTLY see what I mean.
If you say so but you will!
There’s a reason Mike Murphy is a perennial loser.
Normalcy bias for a GOPe bell ringer. Amnesty couldn’t POSSIBLY be the reason, despite all of the overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
I’m blaming it on the polling company that Cantor’s election campaign hired. If only they had polled more accurately things like this wouldn’t happen!/s
BTW, will Cantor get a refund from that company for doing such a bad job? If I was Cantor I certainly would be demanding one.
Says it all, doesn't it? And if her background & academics are so weak, how has she held all those offices and he has none? What state's governor has Mr. Murphy been? How did his boy Mitt Romney do three years later?
From the Bush family perspective you don’t ‘win’ elections, you ‘buy’ elections and that means paying the right people; the right palms weren’t sufficiently greased in the Cantor race according to their view.
So ‘populist issues’ such as Amnesty or from the Bush perspective ‘xenophobic rants’ are never the issue, it’s all about the money. And to some extent that is true. They only go to the base with populist ‘talk’ when their paid consultants tell them they need to. This is why so many establishment republicans start talking the talk for a short while before the election.
The Bush perspective and approach works better in statewide Senate races where they can buy the moderate votes through ads and payments to precinct commanders. This worked in Texas for Cornyn, and in SC for Graham. We’ll see if it holds for Mississippi and Tennessee.
What we as conservatives need to do is to continue to distinguish ourselves from the establishment elites by waking up the base including the moderates and independents. The goal is to reach a critical mass, a tipping point where the current establishment loses credibility with those key groups. In a sense we continue to grow our base. If we keep it up the years 2016, 2018 could be the tipping point where we take back the GOP for conservatives.
How could ENFORCE THE LAW OF THE LAND be so incredibly difficult to understand that it has somehow illuded these eastwards for the last twenty freaking years!
The GOPe is nothing but a collection of cynical, corporate bedwetting elitists determined to destroy conservatism and the middle-class. They are in league with the other elitist cabal on the other side of the aisle. They just don’t like paying taxes.
these advisors and consultants are poison.
Outspent 50:1 Brat won +11 percent
Ray, let’s don’t get carried away bro. LOL... It was 20:1.
You’re right, I overstated it. It is about 42:1
Brat spent $122,793
Cantor spent $5,100,000
