A Church-PAC Link Raises Questions in Mississippi(Cochran exhorts black Dems to vote in GOP primary)
The New York Times ^ | June 16, 2014 | Derek Willis

The full-page advertisement in Mississippi Link, a weekly newspaper aimed at black residents of Jackson, the state’s capital, urged readers to vote for Senator Thad Cochran in the June 3 Republican primary.

That might be unremarkable except for one thing: The political action committee that paid for the ad shares an address and leadership with a local church. “All Citizens for Mississippi” did not appear to exist at the time of the ad’s publication. Its registration as a super PAC with the Federal Election Commission was posted online last week and contains one important clue about its origins. All Citizens for Mississippi shares an address with New Horizon Church International in Jackson and also names Jacqueline Vann, the church’s chief financial officer, as its treasurer.

If church resources were used by the PAC, that could be “potentially problematic” for the church, said Michael Toner, a partner at the Wiley Rein law firm and a former F.E.C. chairman. “The people who are associated with churches, you can be involved in politics, but need to do so in your personal capacity. That’s the dividing line: Is it in their personal capacity?”(continued)

Anything to win, says the GOPe. IIRC, only Republicans are supposed to vote in the GOP primary in Mississippi. Oh well, what are "laws" when money is at stake?

Hey, they are just taking their lead from Jessie and Al. Plus since they are petitioning for Democrats, Holder has their back.

That is how Lindsey Graham, John McCain and other low lifes win in the primaries. Why should that senile old man be any different. Grab and hold on to power, that’s all they know. Win using any deceit, fraud or whatever it takes but don’t let go of that power for anything. Whip those plebs into shape, what do they know.

If this was a White church, their Tax-Deductible Status would have been pulled by the IRS already. Since when is it a secret that Black churches are heavily involved in politics?

Since there’s nobody Black voters are more likely to listen to than a doddering old white man the color of cottage cheese with roots in the Jim Crow era who claims to have done indecent things with animals.

I posted in an earlier thread yesterday: Chris McDaniel and his supporters had better not get over-confident. Don't put anything past Haley "Boss Hog" Barbour and the GOP Establishment. This thing is not over by a long shot. If they get enough Black Dems to vote in the run-off, this could be a real nail-biter. I wonder if Cochran's white supporters are aware of this sleazy maneuver by his campaign? I'm thinking that would turn some of them off and possibly keep them home on June 24th.

The McDaniel Campaign and all of the PACs supporting him, needs to go State-wide exposing this as a "Racist" thing: Thad Cochran is so desperate, that he is disrespecting Black, Mississippi Democrats, by thinking he can "use" and manipulate them into voting in the GOP Primary to save his campaign from a big loss on June 24. Shame on you Thad Cochran.

I bet you won’t see any News headlines, in Mississippi Newspapers saying this: “COCHRAN CAMPAIGN RESORTS TO RACIST TACTICS TO AVOID LOSS”.

Be careful what you wish for, if the Black Democrats vote Republican, they may get used to it, and chose not to go back to the Democrat party!

I believe it’s an open primary, but the dems who voted on the dem ticket in the primary aren’t allowed to vote in the GOP runoff.

Too, there is voter ID now.

If I’m wrong, please correct me, WKB.
