Even as criticism of Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon and other prominent politicians began to mount for their lack of comment on the ongoing crisis in Ferguson, Mo., Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul penned a thought-provoking op-ed on the situation in Time magazine.
"If I had been told to get out of the street as a teenager, there would have been a distinct possibility that I might have smarted off," Paul writes. "But, I wouldn't have expected to be shot." He goes on to make the case for a demilitarization of the police in America within the framework of a broader criticism of "big government"; "Washington has incentivized the militarization of local police precincts by using federal dollars to help municipal governments build what are essentially small armies — where police departments compete to acquire military gear that goes far beyond what most of Americans think of as law enforcement," Paul writes.

Paul also ties what is happening in Missouri to his broader campaign against the government's expanded reach into average Americans' phones and e-mail accounts....

Actually no group besides blacks who, coincidentally I’m sure, have the highest crime rate of any ethnic group have problems with the police.

I could be wrong, but I think he was talking about American immigrants from these countries.
If so, he is dead on. No other American ethnic group has trouble with the police, just blacks; who are also the ones most involved in violent criminal behavior. Coincidence? I think not.
The only good thing about this is that it’s going to give the dimwits nightmares. They’re already over-the-top terrified of losing their people to him.

You know the facts in ferguson?
Like I said, republicans have been complaining about the militarization for at least a year. The EPA invaded an Alaska mining operating in full SWAT gear for an inspection.. Rand Paul is just trying to change the subject from his pathetic foreign policy statements wh h put him to left of Hillary.
Some facts are known. The victim had no criminal record, was a HS graduate, had attended summer school and was starting classes at the local trade school the following Monday.
I also noticed this morning that the narrative has changed from the victim attacking the officer to one of the men attacked the officer. Hmmm.
Just saying that I turn a wizened eye to the idea that a young man with NO history attacked an unnamed officer with an unreleased history. Until the police are more forthcoming and transparent I will give them no benefit of the doubt.

The fact that brown had no criminal record only means he had no criminal record, not that he never committed any crime.
The officer was investigating an assault and robbery, and maybe {I don't have any knowledge} these two guys were the perps.
Hmmmm.
I prefer to await the facts.
