Oh we were so livid when he sided with Spector....everybody knew what Santi would do would change the entire equation...he sold us out absolutely!..and he knew it. So he’s a rhio in every sense of the word and will sell us out....but then he’d NEVER win against Hillary.....what a joke that would be seeing Santi up against Hillary...he’s a wus!

But He gives you the willies because he’s simply a Willie type personality in the first place. We know him here in Pa...Warning! Warning! lights should be put in front of him.

Look....Barely 24 hours after Obama won the election Rick sent a mass email to thousands of conservative activists.
was writing ‘to urge unity between Republicans and Democrats’. That should give people a real good idea the lengths he will go to ride the fence with the Democrats....he’s completely unreliable and can certainly be “bought”.

Certainly a professional builder who could build something given the template and blueprints. (And who didn’t require Tolkeinish stone giants to appear out of nowhere to assist him.)

Santorum helped launch and endorsed Specter’s presidential run, and here is an excerpt from that speech. That photo in post 54 is Santorum endorsing him on stage.

http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/64281-1
Arlen Specter announces for the White House, with endorsee, Rick Santorum at his side.
At Senator Arlen Specter’s official presidential campaign announcement in March 1995, then-Senator Rick Santorum showed his public support and encouragement of Specter by sitting directly next to him as Specter denounced the GOP’s war on abortion. It was at this event that Specter proclaimed his total opposition to social conservatism and declared he is in fact running to make the GOP pro-choice.

Santorum is seen nodding and applauding at Specter’s side:

3:46 mark: “In 1996, I intend to win the other house — the White House — with ten commitments to America… Especially a woman’s right to choose…

13:22 mark: “Even though we have this historic opportunity for these achievements, there are those in our party who would lead us down a different path — and squander this unique moment in our nation’s history — by using our political capital — to pursue a radical social agenda — that would end a woman’s right to choose…

13:48 mark: “When Pat Robertson says there is no constitutional doctrine of separation between Church and State, I say he is wrong…

14:31 mark: “When Ralph Reed says a pro-choice Republican isn’t qualified to be our President, I say the Republican Party will not be intimidated or blackmailed by those kinds of threats.I, and millions of other pro-choice Republicans, will not be disenfranchised and made second class citizens.

15:33 mark: “… it is not Christian, or religious, or Judeo-Christian to bring God into politics; or to advocate intolerance and promote exclusion.

15:54 mark: “I want to take abortion out of politics. I want to keep the Republican Party focused on the vital economic and foreign policy issues — and leave moral issues such as abortion to the conscience of the individual. I believe abortion is an issue to be decided by women…

16:40 mark: “I pledge to lead the fight to strip the strident anti-choice language from the Republican National platform…”

17:05 mark: “neither this nation nor this party can afford a republican candidate so captive to the demands of the intolerant right...

Is this the same Santorum who supported Arlen Specter?

I never got over little Ricky’s facial twitch when talking about a serious issue, which reminded me of my twitch when my father was very angry and about to spank me.

Now wait just a minute...the 2 week cruise in Mediterranean was absolutely great, and I have done 35 or 36 cruise (lost count).
SO I can’t blame Newt one iota for not missing that cruise.

I don't like Santorum. He looks and acts smarmy

That's the word I though of while reading this. Yesterday Santorum was calling Cruz and his allies flame-throwers, and today he's labelling them as inexperienced.

He has a tendency to not prop himself up, but to tear others down. If he were a gal, we'd call it "catty" or "bitchy".

I would prefer a governor with at least a term and a half....who is currently serving. When did Jeb Bush, Rick Santorum, or Mitt Romney last hold office?
There is something to what you say. The military has an “up or out” policy for its officers, but in politics it is more of a “Peter Principle” situation. Jeb Bush’s resume would have seemed pretty good in ’08, except for his last name being the same as the guy the country was so tired of. I think the story is that if you don’t attain national office within about 18 years (maybe it was less) of attaining statewide office, you won’t be elected POTUS.
As for the senators, they usually get knocked out in the primaries. There is an obvious exception, but I don’t think the voters will make that sort of mistake again.
Most candidates are “knocked out in the primaries” - what’s your point?

If being a governor and being known as an executive was gonna beat a left-wing Democrat, Romney would be in the WH now.

We need - we desperately need - someone who is eager and able to sell conservatism. Someone who can get all conservatives to vote for him, and draw in others. That was Reagan. Reagan also had a governorship in his resume, but beggars can’t be choosers. If you insist on a governor, there’s Palin - but she didn’t even serve one term, much less two.

Santorum is a good guy, but he won’t be POTUS, and he needn’t think that he’s serving the country by competing with Cruz. And that is transparently what this quote is about.

I will take Ted Cruz or Rand Paul over any of the establishment possibles as they are the only two that really plan to cut the size of the US govt bureaucracy. We can elect Jesus himself as President but if we don’t drastically cut the size and scope of this monster runaway govt we will never get the Republic back. We will never get our personal freedoms back. At least through the ballot box.

Rand Paul is establishment, he is of the Romney/McConnell camp, not outside of it.

Paul is a consistent endorser and campaigner for the establishment, from Romney to McConnell, and even opposes the tea party in practice, in true libertarian style, he serves a political agenda that contradicts the image that he works to project to casual watchers.

March, 2013—”Rand Paul endorses Mitch McConnell in 2014 Senate race, won’t back tea party challenge”

“Sen. Rand Paul says he’s staying out of the Senate runoff this month in Mississippi, where tea party favorite Chris McDaniel is favored against long-time Republican Sen. Thad Cochran in Mississippi.

“We’re not going to get involved” in the June 24 election, the Kentucky Republican, a tea party favorite himself who’s likely going to run for president in 2016, told a handful of reporters in the Capitol.”

Ted Cruz took a pass on endorsements also. That’s not much of an argument.

Name all the senators who spoke up and fought for a clause in the NDAA that prohibited the arrest and indefinite detention of American citizens. 1. Rand Paul

Name all the senators who filibustered agains’t droning American citizens on US soil. 1. Rand Paul

Name all the senators that proposed ammendments to the Patriot Act to prohibit searches of private citizens gun records. 1. Rand Paul

Name the senator that was instrumental in killing the NSA reform bill because it didn’t go far enough. 1. Rand Paul

It goes on and on and on.

Cruz didn’t make the rino endorsements that Paul did, Cruz didn’t campaign for Mitt Romney.

Cruz has also not revealed himself as pro-abortion and pro gay marriage, and against social conservatism and weak on national defense like Rand Paul.

It goes on and on, Paul is too far left for conservatives and FR.

Besides, he is a bit of a scattered brain pandering buffoon, that often speaks gibberish as he waffles.
