Latino Views on the 2016 GOP Field: Who Can Actually Win the Latino Vote?
The Huffington Post's The Blog ^ | February 2, 2015 | Matt Barreto

As the field of possible GOP contenders for the White House start to take shape, it is important to assess what Latino voters think about the potential presidential candidates, if they even know who they are, and how they can possibly position themselves to court the Latino vote. There is no question that Republicans will lose the White House again in 2016 if they repeat the mistakes of Mitt "I would veto the Dream Act" Romney and lose three-quarters of the Latino vote. GOP Chairman Reince Preibus has said future Republican candidates "must embrace and champion comprehensive immigration reform," while former White House spokesman Ari Fleischer told the Washington Post: "It was such a clear two-by-four to the head in the 2012 election," referring to Mitt Romney's low share of the Hispanic vote and poor positioning on immigration, concluding that "Republicans could never win again if that's the status."

Have Republican presidential hopefuls changed and embraced a kinder, gentler approach to immigration reform and Latino outreach? Latino Decisions has been asking voters how much they know, and what they think about the possible candidates in 2016. Here we review the findings of recent polling on Latino attitudes towards the Republican field:

Let's start with an older look, from back in July 2013 before too much jostling had started. Latino Decisions asked favorability ratings on seven GOP contenders and the biggest take away was back then, Latino voters had very low levels of information about the GOP hopefuls....

To the puffington blowhards, it is always a matter of class and race, never mind freedom and other “unimportant issues.”

Looks like Cruz is holding his ground there.

But perhaps a candidate EVEN MORE CONSERVATIVE than this bunch of (mostly) RINOs. In Texas Dan Patrick ran for Lt. Governor (a very powerful position, virtually as strong as governor here) as a NO HOLES BARRED Seal-the-Border CONSERVATIVE.

...he got 46% of the Hispanic vote (along with 70% of the white vote)...his race was also a BLOWOUT. And his race was against a well-respected Latina.

Exactly.

Who cares who wins the Latino vote? The real question is are there enough intelligent and educated Americans left to vote for drastically smaller and vastly more restrained government.

Their site seems to be a TOOL of the DEMOCRAT PARTY. I would not trust ANY of their polling for a minute - it’s meant to manipulate us (boost Christie, in this case), particularly after the Texas election results (results that were repeated throughout the South).

For example, this is the title of a book published by the FOUNDER OF THIS SITE (taken right from his own biography):

“Change They Can’t Believe In: The Tea Party and Reactionary Politics in America, published by Princeton University Press.”

This is what they say about the co-founder:
“His teaching and research are focused on Latino public opinion, immigrant socialization, voter turnout, religion and politics, and identity politics in the United States.”

These guys are TOTALLY LEFT WING.

I sure as hell hope the Republican Party doesn’t take them seriously...but I suspect they do.

“Wow look at Chris Christie”

See my prior post also. I STRONGLY suspect these ‘results’ are bogus, simply because there is absolutely NO REASON that Hispanics should be attracted to Christie. There are relatively few Hispanics in the Northeast and he is not nearly as well known as Jeb, for example.

As to our side being manipulated, note how there listing is not in any particular order (i.e., alphabetical, or by popularity), but rather they put the two “lowest scorers” next to Christie near the bottom, and then the person who is second to Christie is near the top.

They wanted Christie to do well, and set their numbers and presentation PERFECTLY to achieve that outcome. They are VERY GOOD at what they do.

He got over 40% in 2012. Any Republican who gets 40% of the Latino vote in 2016 will soon be moving in to the White House.

Whoever the Republican candidate turns out to be, he or she should make a point of placing our Hispanic citizens who need jobs, educations, healthcare, ahead of interlopers who are grabbing a piece of their pie. Worry about our citizens first. Help Hispanic families who are citizens. Work for all citizens. Let the rest go to where they are citizens, so they can demand their politicians work for them.

The so-called “minority” votes do not matter! No need to pander to the “monorities.”

That is kinda like trying to teach a pig to sing: it wastes your time and annoys the pig!

Better to spend the time and money to appeal to and get out the conservative vote. If the “stay-at-home” conservatives would get out and vote, conservatives would carry the day!

In the past two election cycles, more than 100,000,000 otherwise eligible voters stayed at home. Many of them probably stayed home because McCain and Romney were not “conservative” enough.

Either McCain or Romney would sure as Hell be a better President than Ophonybama!

We are in a HELLOFAMESS because of “purity” voters. Thank you very much!

All we need to do is get conservatives out to vote anti-LIEberal, it becomes a slam dunk!

New Mexico State Governor Susana Martinez (R) visited

with Gov. Christie...I don’t know if her visit is a cause

for

his Hispanic “popularity” a result of his “popularity”...

or neither...She was probably exploring a V.P role...

Young “conservative” Hispanic Female Governor...from a

“blue”

state...or at least a purple state.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susana_Martinez

Perhaps...Chrities’ “popularity” is from his appearance of

...”taking a stand”...strong leader...??
But not to me.

GO TED CRUZ

The latino vote is fractured. Keep reminding them that amnesty/retention of illegals jeoprdizes their own and their children’s future and they will vote conservative/no amnesty just like every other legitimate voter.

Correct it is VERY FRACTURED. If you note in my 50 or so posts trying to get through to the THICK SKULLS of Republican leaders, I talk about the Hispanic vote in the SOUTH. Not the Hispanic vote overall.

In California and New York City (i.e., Puerto Ricans), they are simply a RADICALIZED subculture. Until you break them out of that (i.e., have them learn English), it is hopeless - and there are a lot of them. So they drag our national numbers down, and there is NOTHING that can be done.

But in the South (NM, Georgia, MS, and Texas - states with exit polls from last year), Hispanics were voting a solid 45% REPUBLICAN. They are starting to act a LOT MORE AMERICAN than the Democrats ever wanted and are keeping the South TOTALLY OUT OF REACH. I suspect that the Hispanics here, or at least the ones that voted, know English well, they want to keep their guns, they not very hot on gay marriage, and they sure as hell don’t trainloads of MS-13 types flooding the country from El Salvador.

The Republicans in the South ran as CONSERVATIVES and so they also picked up 75-89% of the white vote (89% being in Mississippi, and amazing number). Whites will still be 70% of the vote in 2016, regardless of the best efforts of the left and the media to convince us otherwise, and that is why the liberals FEAR CONSERVATIVES so much. If Republicans can grab 70% of the white vote in the Midwest, it is GAME OVER for the Dems, as they will probably, by default, get 40% of the Hispanics, and there simply are not enough blacks to help at that point. The Democrats still require that Republicans SPLIT the white vote and get no more than, maybe 60%...bump that number to 70 or 75 percent, and it’s a blowout.

...but the Democrats will never tell us that, and the Republican leadership seems TOO STUPID to figure it out on their own - DESPITE the NBC NEWS Exit Polling from Texas.
