Recycling a comment that he made in 2012, presidential candidate and Texas senator Ted Cruz (R) doubled down on his statement that he has never seen a Hispanic panhandler, ThinkProgress reported.
While speaking earlier this week with the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Cruz was asked how to inform, mobilize, and attract Hispanic voters in 2016. Cruzs response was that the Hispanic community is fundamentally conservative one and that they work their fingers to the bones.
Some years ago, I was having lunch with a Hispanic entrepreneur in Austin. He asked me a question. He said, When was the last time you saw a Hispanic panhandler? And thats a great question. You and I grew up in Texas. I dont think Ive ever seen a Hispanic panhandler. And the reason is in our community it would be shameful to be begging on the streets.
Now if you want people to work their fingers to the bones hard work youll have Hispanic men and women lining up to work hard and provide for their families. Those are all conservative values. And I think the most potent ethos in the Hispanic community is what we believe in. Its the shared value in our community.
Cruz also stood behind his anti-immigration rhetoric. He said he wanted to [secure] the border, and told the crowd that the Left was using immigration as a scare tactic to get the Hispanic vote.
Apparently what Cruz doesnt understand is that its the fear of their family members being deported that pushes them to vote Democrat. Championing their work ethic isnt going to change that.
Most Hispanics are hard workers. Some are law abiding citizens, some are gang bangers and violent criminals. Many are law breaking illegals. I’m sure Ted Cruz has the intellectual capacity to sort that out and act accordingly.
LOW INFO VOTER ALERT!!! Only those ILLEGALLY here..jeez..
Deport?
Hate to break it to the MSM, but most Hispanics are native born and don’t like illegals any more than Anglos.
If I remember correctly, John Wayne Gacy was a very hard worker.
...and a damned good birthday clown.
The reason no Hispanic panhandlers inTexas they have all the jobs.
This hard working thing is largely a myth, Mexico would not be Mexico if it was filled with industrious, efficient, hard working people.
Anyone who has spent much time down there knows that little gets done, and what is done, isn’t done well, centuries go by and it is still a grubby unfinished place, never known for industriousness, or quality workmanship.
Rafael Cruz will not deport them. They have nothing to worry about.
;-)
I’m not referring to Mexico.
What Hispanics do you think we have been flooded with for 50 years?
Mexicans and those farther south in more recent decades.
When you said “most Hispanics are hard workers” who are “most Hispanics”?
“You and I grew up in Texas. I dont think Ive ever seen a Hispanic panhandler.”
Like it or not, that’s the way it is for the majority today.
Back before 1964 and “The Great Society” poor people only received food from the government AND NOTHING ELSE!
They actually had to work to earn income...so they did...and were proud of the fact that they supported their families. It’s not even close to what it is today.
Come to my town and watch how many young men (18 to 30) seem to have no means of earning an income but drive very nice and expensive cars. They are out during the day and night without any need to work...yet live the high life and make plenty of babies with their stable of overweight women.
History will write that the year 1964 was the beginning of the downward spiral of America that continues destroying individual liberties, freedoms and responsibilities.
This upcoming election will also mark the actual DEATH of the America we used to know unless people vote for those who stand for the Constitution, Bill of Rights and the American way of life that existed up until 1964.
“Ted Cruz (R) doubled down on his statement that he has never seen a Hispanic panhandler””
Cruz has never driven to the El Paso airport at rush hour.
Go pig wrestle with someone else.
About what, can you fill me on on what you are trying to start an argument about?
Yep no bias in that headline!
I don’t know where you live in Texas, but I live in an 85% Mexican neighborhood here in Denton. Most of the men and many of the women get up in the morning and go to work (many have more than one job), the housewives who dont work outside the house watch the children and there are many people selling tamales, knife sharpening, ice cream, roasted corn and many other things. Many go to Mass or Sunday Church services and Vacation Bible School is huge.
How many are on assistance? I don’t know because I’m not a census worker.
