WASHINGTONMost of the early action in presidential primaries happens in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. But Sen. Ted Cruz is keying in on far-off territories to help meet a Republican Party rule for the nomination.
While Cruz has spent plenty of time and money in the early primary states, hes also dispatched advisers and put in calls to leaders in Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, according to Politico.
The Republican party requires its presidential candidate to have won a majority of delegates in eight states or territories. Since those three territories cast delegates in the primary, the Cruz campaign figures they could be easier gets in a crowded field.
Whether youre getting Texas, Michigan and Ohio, or the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and American Samoa, each has an equal voice when it comes to nominating candidates to put them on the ballot at the convention, Cruz adviser Saul Anuzis, told Politico....

Candidates usually just cede those territories to the GOPe without paying any attention to them.
He’s already been here to Michigan more than most GOP candidates come during an entire election season. His father has been here a lot as well.
Guam-——the tipping island. It seemed okay in 1947 when I was 3 months old and my dad got stationed there. Times change I guess.
You do know that Ted Cruz is about the only candidate brave enough to oppose the ethanol subsidies, right?

A lot of the farmers around here have come to recognize the subsidies as a trap. One of the locals told me that it was a safety net for the lean times but could go away at any time and there were the years when other crops paid better.
As long as Guam doesn’t tip over.
Past voting finds all of the U.S. territories voting, as a super majority, for leftist candidates within both, major political parties, in POTUS races! What Cruz is doing=It’s like trying to turn a profoundly blue state, such as Massachusetts, into a conservative red state. Unfortunately, this will end up as a wasted effort by Ted Cruz, but he means well.
What a total waste of time, energy and money.
It’s one guy and a plane ticket.
Vet, I google “Cruz” periodically. And often, I find a thread from FR. Just by the title, I invariably know which ones you’ve started.
