Jerry Brown calls other states’ gun laws ‘gigantic back door’ for terrorists

California governor criticizes ‘wide open’ Nevada, Arizona.

LE BOURGET, France — Gov. Jerry Brown said Saturday that “wide open” gun laws in Nevada and Arizona are a “gigantic back door through which any terrorist can walk,” while he was noncommittal on efforts to strengthen gun control measures in California.

Brown, arriving in France for climate talks after the mass shooting in San Bernardino last week, called the shooting a terrorist attack.

The guns used were purchased legally in California before being modified, authorities have said.

Asked if stricter gun control laws were warranted, as some activists have argued, the fourth-term Democrat replied, “California has some of the toughest gun control laws of any state. And Nevada and Arizona are wide open, so that’s a gigantic back door through which any terrorist can walk.”

“It’s an important topic, this is an important forumwant to make sure I did that,” Brown said. “At the same time, I don’t minimize the significance o, California has a role to play, and If this terrorist attack. … It’s a very clear indication that this is a global phenomenon and that people who are committed to this jihadist doctrine are going to be killing people in very unexpected places. So we have to be, as I said, we have to be on our guard and we have to do whatever we can do.”

Brown said terrorism is a more difficult problem to address than climate change because “we know what to do about climate change.”(continued)

What about inviting hundreds of thousands of them to live job-free in our country? Is that a “gigantic back door” ?

No, that is the gigantic FRONT door, and it can be found just south of San Diego, and runs from Arizona to the Pacific.

But Jerry...it’s illegal in California so why does it matter about other state laws?!

You mean the terrorist don’t follow the laws of California but would follow the laws of Nevada???

Idiot

Is there any evidence that the ISIS killers in CA bought any gun out of state?

The biggest open back door I know of is your border with Mexico, governor.

If this was true, then why don’t states like Montana, Idaho and Alaska suffer from this sort of thing?

Because any terrorists trying such a thing there would be shot down like a rabid animal.

Funny how those “back doors” only happen in places like CA and NY. Then again, perhaps not.

Straw buyers from those states is about the only way they could get guns to people who are not allowed by law to have them. This is how those two mussies had those guns, they were bought by that nerdie looking guy. He bought those guns for them. Don’t most state disallow people from other states to buy guns there?

After serving as governor from 1975 to 1983 Brown traveled to Japan to study Zen Buddhism:

When you're Jerry Brown, you probably shouldn't use the expression "gigantic back-door."

Just like Lindsey Graham should stay away from "hard-assed."

Only problem with this “analysis” buddy boy governor Moonbeam, choom-gang-— is that the weapons were purchased for them by a “neighbor” one Enrique Marquez— who is now on the lamb, and had his garage broken into LAST night (Saturday 5th Dec) by federal agents.

Who is Enrique Marqeuez— is he an active part of the continuing FAST and FURIOUS, revived to do this deed? And therefore accomplish what Fast & Furious was started to do— confiscate so-called “assault weapons”-— just as obamaumao will say needs to be done? How damned neat and convenient, and FALSE FLAG using cutouts of REAL terrorists, labeled as HOMEGROWN terrorists. Can FReepers see the pattern here?

If they are truly 'terrorists', then indict them for a crime so they cannot legally purchase guns.

But this is not the ultimate goal of liberals.

They would love to use the terrorist watch list to secretly add millions of Americans to so they can be denied their 2nd amendment right without due process.

FU Liberals!!!

I love this line:

The guns used were purchased legally in California before being modified, authorities have said.

Oh. Really?

So where the "modifications" legal?

No. They were purchased and then ILLEGALLY modified.

Gee, Sacramento Bee, why didn't you--or the authorities you quote--mention this salient fact?

Could it be because logical people would wonder, if your already imposed gun control law is so broken, what will passing more laws do for those criminals/terrorists who already break existing law????

This is the crux of gun control.

It doesn't keep criminals from continuing criminal acts.

Only the law abiding, who don't murder to begin with, are hindered by such laws.

The weapons were purchased LEGALLY in California. No need to go to either Arizona or Nevada to purchase the arms.

The modifications done on the weapons is illegal under Federal law, wouldn’t it seem? Certainly, no statute authorizes the construction of pipe bombs or other IEDs, does it?

The fact that the improvised explosive devices were not used in the assault on the banquet hall in no way excuses the construction of them. Against the law is still against the law, and mere possession is a violation.
