GREENVILLE, S.C. â For the first time last week, a poll showed Ted Cruz pulling ahead of the Republican presidential pack in Iowa. For him and his ardent fans, it was a validation â and a sign of things to come.
A second poll released Saturday confirmed the finding: Cruz is now a solid front-runner in the state that will kick off the voting in February.
As in his improbable Senate win three years ago in Texas, Cruz has proved shrewd and methodical in his bid for the White House, tireless and disciplined on the stump, and adept at tapping the anti-establishment currents coursing through the GOP electorate.
âFrom the beginning, the approach of this campaign was to build a campaign on a foundation of stone and not a foundation of sand, following the biblical principle of systematically unifying and bringing together conservatives, and weâre seeing that happening powerfully in the state of Iowa,â Cruz told cheering volunteers at a phone bank in Greenville, S.C....

Cruz is the best candidate. Accept no Johnny-come-lately “conservatives” playing at being a conservative when there is a real one in the race.
Cruz may not be a RINO, but he does a good job of imitating one at times.
TrusTED 2016.
It’s kind of hard to call his support for TPA, his caving to Obama on the Iran deal, and his less than stellar positions on illegal iimmigration, as being that of a solid conservative, wouldn’t you say?
And Mr. Trump did a good job imitating a Democrat by contributing money to many of them (including Hillary), by saying words that supported them (including Hillary), and by bashing real conservatives (now including Cruz). To define all conservative Americans who don’t support Trump as RINOs is beyond bizarre when you consider just a few examples from the thrice married, crony capitalist, Johnny-come-lately “conservative” Trump.
Ted is my favorite hands down. A lifetime of conservative values that he has fought for. It will be great finally voting for someone that wasn’t a liberal just a few years ago.
No one is describing all conservatives who don’t support Trump as RINO’s. I’m simply pointing out that your portrayal of Cruz as a pristine, lily white conservative is just not accurate. He has taken positions that most conservatives would disagree with. If you still support him in spite of his flaws, that’s fine. There’s no perfect candidate, but to make the case that Trump is a fake conservative by picking and choosing aspects of his record, and yet ignore the weakness in Cruz’s record, is hypocritical.
Trump is a fake conservative, though. He’s running a con game.
Cruz is rising just as people are tiring of Trump. Perfect timing.
Chuckle! Two out of the last 3 polls have Ted Cruz with a solid lead over Trump in Iowa. But hey, keep clinging to that CNN poll. Soon you won’t even have that to cling to.
You’re entitled to your misguided opinion. That’s all it is. Your false conclusions are a result of your poor judgement.
If you’re trying to make the case that Trump’s running a con-game, then you need to offer a rational explanation of what his end game is. What does he plan to gain by lying about being a conservative?
He plans to be the next president of the United States. That’s the best interpretation. I know a lot of people think his plan is to help Hillary, but I don’t buy that. He’s too vain to want to be in it for anyone else.
Like the article said, Cruz is methodical and has laid out a plan to win across the nation. I am not sure if he is the main architect but am sure he has studied the plan.
We cannot lose with Ted Cruz as President. He will bring dignity back into the White House. With Trump I am not so sure if he has the same set of morals. He talks tough but not only do we need tough, we need a moral compass in the leadership position.
We must have this moral compass to fight this evil that we face in Islam and the ME.
Yes and his wife will be the Goldman Sachs insider. They always have a rep. In the White House. Lawyers make such good Presidents like the one we have now/s.
Don't you just love panderers? /S
Spoken like a true Bush/Hillary/Obama supporter - all mouth and no actual investment in conservatism...
Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
We need to ensure we don't get another Obama-like America Hater as the next President.
The best way to ensure that is to actively support a candidate as the next President.
I prefer Cruz and my money goes to his campaign, hence the Cruz link. If you like someone else, donate to him/her (find your own link to do it) and if you use FR and don't donate, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches or those who have Obama Phones because, functionally, you are no different than any other FReeloader
PS - If you are one of those who cannot afford even a small donation to FR or a candidate, God Bless and happy FReeping!.....
GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!
