If Trump wins, will he call a “peace conference” with McC and Ryan and then accommodate to their “leadership”? Maybe Rand Paul can set it up after November 8, 2016, if he is still the other KY senator.

No, you are right. Put another way, the American want all the liberalism that others can pay for.

Actually would theorize that if Trump loses Iowa he will still run the rest of the table and wrap it up by mid April. Iowa is the only iffy place for Donald Trump. And as you say its not really important except for the ego.

I believe that Cruz is brilliant; the American people have never been know to seek out brilliance, a trait that they actually associate with Kennedy-style Democrats!

-—Cruz fan club?——

How about the Trump fan club, they attribute all sorts of political greatness upon him without him winning a single election, casting a single vote and say something they disagree with about Trump, they act like you kicked their puppy...

"If it takes a liberal to give us a sane illegal immigration policy, a coherent foreign policy, strengthen our armed forces, and other wins on important conservative issues, it is what it is."

And this is a perfect example of the insanity that has seized some folks this season.

A liberal is going to do none of that, no matter how badly you want to convince yourself he will.

Read back what you posted. In your own words, you expect a liberal to push conservative issues.

It really is incredible.

I’m willing to ignore these things and vote for Cruz if he’s the last standing.

Same here if Trump is the nominee, I'll vote for him. OTOH.... If one of these two is not, and a RINO is shoved down our throat, I'll vote for the most conservative 3rd party candidate.

Thank you for a thoughtful response without an ad hominem to the messenger. Go to my page and read the responses to my comments....over and over again. I ask trumpsters to give me something...anything that shows he’s a conservative and 90% of the time I am greeted with attacks for deigning to not prostrate myself in full trump man-love...so, yeah I throw out the koolaid comments (and others in my more exceptionally frustrated times), but I’ve been conditioned to such a response.

South Carolina is becoming iffy for Trump too, time will tell if he doesn’t lose momentum.

Iowa caucuses are always an odd beast. Every year the press goes nuts about them and other than incumbent years they aren’t a reliable indicator of anything.

I honestly expect someone other than Trump to win Iowa but don’t expect it to amount to much other than the pundits flapping their gums.

I think you better take another look at the SC polls. SC is a bellweather state and Trump has a huge lead.

The results of the Iowa Caucuses are very significant for the candidates who do not do well. Remember a candidate named Hillary Clinton. Eight years ago she came in third behind Obama and Edwards. She was supposed to be the winner hands down.
If you do well in Iowa you can go on. If you do poorly, you are toast. McCain is the only exception in recent history.

Well a Republican isn’t going to do those things, either. No matter how badly you want to convince yourself he will.

I’m tired of it. Like the woman said, “what difference, at this point, does it make?”

But a conservative will...

If Trump drops out, the meltdown here on FR will be cosmic.

By comparison, the 2012 Sarah meltdown will be as a stick of refrigerated butter, slowly softening on the kitchen counter.

In January.

I think your assessment is spot-on. The rule is to nominate the most conservative electable candidate. Like it or not, the country is far from conservative in many areas and refusal to acknowledge that fact in the pursuit of ideological purity may lead to good feelings in July but likely disappointment in November.

Trump is the only candidate who can put supposedly "safe" blue states into play as well as the usual list of swing states. I fully expect him to carry NY, NJ, PA, and CT. Do the math. If that happens a D path to victory is a virtual impossibility.

"Well a Republican isn’t going to do those things, either"

A conservative is the only one who will accomplish conservative goals. That's what Cruz is. He's been fighting Republicans since his days as solicitor general of Texas.

A liberal will not accomplish conservative goals. To believe so is to take leave of one's senses.

"I’m tired of it. Like the woman said, “what difference, at this point, does it make?”"

Well, if you think a liberal will serve you well, it doesn't surprise me that you'd quote one.

For the answer to that question, see above.

I think the three points you make would go a lllllong way toward repairing the craziness of the entire primary season. Very practical and reasonable solutions.

Therefore...it will never happen...

“Secondly, he showed that skill in the first debate when he rattled off all the previous questions to the others on the stage.”

I am still trying to fathom why people are so impressed with that, even if he did not mentally rehearse it while someone else was talking, which he did, and probably wrote them down. During the second debate, he was feeling his oats and tried to reel of a list of five items and repeated himself; said commerce, I think, twice.

It was certain to happen, Cruz just did it first. Newt’s success with attacking the moderator ensured we’ll see some candidate repeat it in every debate.
