Former GOP New Jersey Gov. Christie Whitman says if Donald Trump is the party's presidential nominee, she'll vote for Democratic contender Hillary Clinton, the Star Ledger reports.

The two-term Whitman, a longtime moderate Republican, announced Friday she was backing longshot presidential candidate Ohio Gov. John Kasich, the newspaper reports.

But she tells columnist Tom Moran she'd jump the party ship if Trump winds up as the Republican nominee -- and claims she won't be alone....

Romney was more conservative than Trump.

Disloyal bitch. Never did like her, only voted for her to stop the Dems. I am glad to be in Texas now, and away from people like her.

Whitman has played this tune before. Here is what I found in Wikipedia:

“In December 2010, Whitman criticized the 2008 Republican vice president candidate Sarah Palin, commenting that if Palin were to run for President in 2012 and win the Republican nomination, “I don’t think she’ll win nationwide... [she will] energize the base. But the base isn’t big enough and Republicans should have learned that.” She went on to say that if Palin were to run,

“She’d have to show me a lot more than I’ve seen thus far, as far as an understanding of the depth and the complexity of the issues that we face... she was a governor, but the fact that she left office before even completing her first term, it’s just not an attitude that I think is necessarily in the best interest of your constituents, rather what’s in your own best interest.””

Also, Whitman ran one of her own political action groups that infest Washington D.C. Her political action committee, It’s My Party Too (IMP-PAC), was formed to assist electoral campaigns of moderate Republicans at all levels of government. Follow the money folks.

You mean a RINOETTE. Sounds like my .308 ricocheting off a rock, or a nasty bug crawling out of the woodwork.

I said nothing about "GOP-E" v populism. I said who was more conservative. On what issues is Trump more conservative than Romney?

In 2012, Romney advocated for a much tighter border, boosting of e-verify, and cutoff of benefits so that illegals would "self-deport. Trump condemned that as "mean-spirited". Point, Romney.

In 2012, Romney advocated repealing Obamacare, and having insurance sold across state lines. Trump finally came around just this year from supporting single payer, to advocating much of what Romney was advocating 4 years ago. Point. Romney.

Romney specifically endorsed entitlement reform. Trump has rejected it. Point, Romney.

Steve Deace, Ben Shapiro, Andrew Klavan, Ted Cruz—all of them have taken Trump’s remark that he would give health care to keep the very poor from dying in the street, and run away with it, claiming Trump supports totally socialized, single-payer healthcare for every American. I’ve seen lesser-known commentators do the same thing.

I heard Trump’s original statement IN FULL. This distortion has cast SERIOUS doubt, in my mind, on their intellectual honesty.
