I don’t understand why he has done this. His easiest path to the presidency was as Trump’s VP.

Trump won’t run for a second term IMO... President Cruz would have been his second term.

It will astound and astonish me to my last day why Ted Cruz did not align himself with Donald Trump early on for a wonderful long-term run.
It could have been four or eight years of President Trump (likely four, by virtue of age) followed by another four or eight years of President Cruz.
