The chairman of the House Democratic Caucus said Friday that reports that the Trump administration had considered deploying tens of thousands of National Guard troops to apprehend undocumented immigrants were outrageous and very reminiscent of what led up to World War II.
Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.) made the statement in an interview for C-SPANs Newsmakers program shortly after the Associated Press broke news of the draft Department of Homeland Security memo.
White House press secretary Sean Spicer said the memo was not a White House document and that there is no effort at all to round up, to utilize the National Guard to round up illegal immigrants.
But Crowley said seeing these kind of actions . . . even being talked about was alarming.
Using the National Guard, the Army, to come into our communities, to police our communities, to disrupt and to gather people up for the purpose of deporting them, is a very, very scary thing, he said. Its not a country that Im familiar with called the United States. Its not how we conduct ourselves. We see that happen in other countries that arent as free and arent as open as we are to welcoming immigrants. We welcome immigrants. We want the best, the brightest and the bravest. . . . And now theyre under fear that armed [men], you know, with M-16 rifles, come to your door and break it down and leave your children who are American citizens there but take you and deport you.
Pressed on the comparison to the run-up to World War II a reference that could easily be interpreted as a reference to Nazi Germany Crowley backed off only slightly....

I remember we won WW2 so what’s his problem? Oh yeah, libs side with the enemy. STFU asshole.
What a Maroon
Hey deBonehead...ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS....STOP LYING
“But Crowley said seeing these kind of actions . . . even being talked about was alarming.”
Because YOU are talking about them?
And who is the enemy? The Democrats/NAZIS?
All I can say is...where’s Joe Swing when ya need him?
Trump is playing 4 dimensional chess with these fools.
The rule of law constrains us.A time may come when that no longer applies.
Hitler was just deporting illegal aliens from Germany? Who knew?
Another extremely stupid congressman.
“Hank Johnson” stupid that is.
exactly. We can wipe out these pukes in an instant.
I’ll say it for the 1000th time on FR: we cannot co-exist with liberals. If we want to save America, one of us has got to “go”. I prefer it be the left.
LOL! Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.) is a drama queen and a complete idiot.
Dear Joseph Crowley:
The fact that you’re a U.S. rep and you’re stupid enough to fall for a fake document is a bigger danger to our country, Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.).
Why don’t you allocate a grant to brain transplant research and then offer yourself up as a guinea pig.
Knowing DC, there is probably also a draft memo, written by a committee of GS Minus 17s, that all immigrants from SWA should be required to eat a bagel with a pork chop on it with their left hand, and that would smoke out the Terrs.
Everyone writes memos
I saw a memo during ‘71 that we should use small air delivered / air burst nucs to make a 10 mile wide no-mans-land from from the SW corner of North Vietnam running NW through Thailand, Laos, into Burma to prevent PAVN resupply to COSVN / VC / PAVN units in South. Puffs would then patrol the open area, killing anything that moved!
Wasn’t even TS.
Didn’t go anywhere..... darn it.
These guys are crazy.
The Congressman is also ignorant of history... FDR, a Democrat, allowed the round up and internment of Japanese Americans during WW-II. However the National Guard story is totally fake news
