President Donald Trump brought Sen. Rand Paul to his Virginia golf course on Sunday to talk health policy with the outspoken critic of the failed plan to repeal and replace so-called Obamacare.

The outing to Trump National Golf Club came hours after Trump tweeted that talks on replacing the law have been going on and "will continue until such time as a deal is hopefully struck."

He added that anyone who thinks the effort is dead "does not know the love and strength in R Party!"(continued)

I've said for months that Sen. Rand Paul should be driving the health care reform effort among the Republicans in Congress.

It can't hurt to let a medical doctor lead this, for sure.

We now have a much better environment for getting a GOOD replacement bill passed. Funny how that works. Certain parties who were trying to use repeal and replace as an opportunity to further their own interests instead of the country`s have now been politically weakened
By round 1 of this negotiation.
Does anyone still want to argue that Trump dropped the ball on this?

If folks read Art of the Deal, they’ll know what Trump did here.

Yep. All part of the plan. Use the process to evaluate the other parties involved, and weaken the position of those who would oppose you.

You have him confused with Dr. Mary Gatter, the Planned Parenthood official that wanted a Lamborghini from the sale of baby body parts.

“It can’t hurt to let a medical doctor lead this, for sure.”

This is where we disagree.

Some of the west and east coast MDs are some of the most evil and dangerous liberals I have ever met. They have been pro Hilliarily and Obama because of their national health care stances.

There are good conservative docs and some are Republicans.

I understand. I'm talking specifically about a former medical doctor who is now a U.S. Senator.

What makes Rand Paul a perfect candidate to lead a health care reform initiative is that his expertise is in ophthalmology, and he specialized in some procedures that were covered by insurance (corneal transplants) and some that were not (laser surgery). This means he's got a very good understanding of the benefits and flaws in the relationships between insurance companies and medical practitioners.

Rand would be good as he understand life as a MD and as a Senator.
