He didn’t immediately back the entire Green New Deal or call for single-payer health care. He stressed values and his experience. He’s former Vice President Joe Biden. He has entered the race for president as a values-oriented moderate and offers Democrats a real choice in primaries that have so far been dominated by candidates who have pandered to more extreme elements of the party.
He waited to announce his intention to seek his party’s nomination until later in the year — generally, a smart decision for someone leading in the polls as the last thing he wants to be is the incumbent.
His late entry marks him as more of a challenger candidate to those who got out there early and staked out their more left-leaning constituencies.
He has had time to put together a professional organization and assemble a lot of the Obama and Clinton donors who want to see the work for the former president continued. His announcement explicitly took credit for his work with Obama on ObamaCare, violence against women and other trademark legislation.

Joe Biden was voted the second most liberal senator behind Obama. Jeb was a moderate.
Biden is being propped up because he can be controlled. He’s dumber than a stump, everyone knows it and he says some of the dumbest sh*t anyone can say. Yet, he has a commanding lead in the polls. The other candidates, its not 100% that any of them can be controlled. Whether it’s their ego, that is the wild card or they haven’t been around long enough for the scandals, the puppet masters can’t take a chance on them yet.
I think that’s one of the reasons that Sanders was dispatched in 2016. He was drawing 10-15000. She could barely fill a high school cafeteria. But, she’s so damn dirty and greedy that they can control her, they didn’t know if they could control Sanders. I think, now, they can. But for the time being, Biden is the Devil They Know, so they’ll ride him into the ground, until they can’t.

Jeb Bush’s 2016 candidacy faded away because he was dull and unengaging compared to better candidates, particularly Donald Trump; however, in Joe Biden’s case, there are no better candidates running against him, so he’s likely to remain at the top of the Democratic polls, no matter how dull, unengaging, gaffe-prone, or creepy he may continue to be.
