Minnesota’s teachers union, one of Gov. Tim Walz’s top political allies, has donated nearly $2 million to state Democrats so far this election cycle.
According to new campaign finance reports, Education Minnesota’s political action committee gifted $513,000 each to the House and Senate DFL caucuses, and another $900,000 to the DFL State Central Committee, for a total of $1.9 million. All of the donations were made in August and September.
Emails previously obtained by Alpha News show the union was given inside access to the Walz administration throughout the pandemic and its president, Denise Specht, had a close working relationship with the governor’s former education commissioner.
Education Minnesota was a vocal proponent of the governor’s COVID-19 school closures, even as Specht took in a salary of $211,000 while parents were forced to stay home with their kids for virtual learning.
Many have blamed the governor’s COVID-19 policies for Minnesota’s declining test scores. Only 44.8% of students are proficient in math and nearly half (48.9%) cannot read at grade level, according to the latest data from the Department of Education.
A parents group called on the union to apologize this week after Specht accused conservative school board candidates of wanting to “make schools less welcoming” and “whitewash American history.” Specht also attacked the “MAGA media” for their “wild accusations.”
(DFL= Democratic-Farmer-Labor party)
Close the public “schools”
Problem solved
Who gets to pick the teachers that'll pack heat?
Will it be some school board-designated committee (because we know how they LOVE justice)?
Will it be union goons?
Maybe it'll be the librarian who just added a bunch of Antifa books to the catalog.
Maybe it'll be this Fearless Lady.
Or that collection of sex ed specialists pushing the latest claptrap on children.
It sure won't be the parents, who are "domestic terrorists" in the eyes of the DOJ.
I'll go a few steps further....let's say some leftist agitator-teacher who did 4 years in the Army's is deemed "competent." He sees a bunch of conservative students and monitors their online activity, decides they're a threat because they wrote "Let's Go Brandon" and FJB and posted pictures of them at gun shows on Instagram, and draws his weapon on them in class and calls the cops.
He will argue (and, I submit to you, be supported in the press and by the school board vociferously) that he stopped a possible disaster. The parents of these students will sue, the NEA will protect the teacher at all costs, the parents will spend thousands on legal fees and their kids will be doxxed and have a hard time getting in to college or trade school.
The teacher will keep his job and become a celebrity for 20% of this nation, and be loathed by 30-40% of the Deplorables. The remainder/ballast will waffle. Meanwhile, another school shooting will happen because that's part of the systematic risk in a free nation.
For a nation like Israel where the citizenry has experienced this palpably, and where the threat is probabilistically high (way higher than in America), it seems to work. I also suspect "competence" isn't as politically defined in Israel. Israel isn't America, and America isn't Israel, just like adopting the gun control policies of Europe won't work here.
In contemporary America, this is a nice idea on paper. In practice it'll fail, because the local government and DOJ will make the call on "competency." And then this guy will carry...
Viable options include Homeschooling and private schools. But as long as in loco parentis reigns supreme, this is a futile situation.
Is this TAX money they are giving or union dues? If it’s taxes then how the effin freakin’ hell can that be legal??
Public school teachers...the lowest of the low.
We’re obviously paying teachers too much.
This is why we need to run for school board. We got to fight the Indoctrination Center INDOCTRINATORS (FKA Public school teachers) and the best way is the board...
The Minnesota’s teachers union should be arrested, charged, tried and convicted for giving aid and comfort to the domestic enemies of the United States. And let their carcasses rot off the noose.
Good questions.
Union dues, of course, flow from salaries paid with monies taken from taxpayers.
Therefore, if one wishes to live on taxpayer funds (such as welfare recipients) one should not be allowed to donate to a political party?
Should government employees be apolitical such as or instance, judges?
So the union makes teachers pay them dues so they can financially back Democrats. Hey teachers, time to rebel.
I’m sure that the teachers endorsed it whole-heartedly.
Q: Why would they do this is MN is going to vote (as usual) full on Rat?
Count on it.
